Well. I did ask a while back for SSC here to revise the model to something that could be made more... GMG. Like a gunship or Seige Frigate similar to what liberty has.

I dunno what do you guys think?

RE: Civilian Cruiser - ssc - 11-05-2013

I have to admit, didn't do a decent job with the configuring of it. Since then, I have improved. Probably tackle that again.

RE: Civilian Cruiser - Pancakes - 11-05-2013

@SMI the whole point of GMG is that they count on snub prowess, not capital. We already have Zoner lore completely ruined, no reason to crap-out anther faction.

As for the model, could be a deep-space civilian research vessel. Perhaps a medium-low cargo (around the 1800ish) transport with gunboat turrents (no CD of course) that would have a decent defensive capabilities, but in no way will challenge the salvager's role.

I mean, look at classic pirate ships, whom depending on the size of the ship, might have anywhere between a couple dozen and a couple hundred crew. They had to have enough people to operate the boat, plus large boarding parties to fight the crew of the enemy ship, operate THAT boat if they chose to claim it, take losses, etc.

True, but those ships were generally not as well armed or protected as dedicated military frigates, not to mention the man-o-wars. A civilian ship haphazardly converted into an attack boat would be something akin to a pirate Bison, or Pilgrim. Not a fullsized military vessel. Pirate ships tended to burn down quickly when faced with a military opponent from what I've read...

Stop it. Please.

RE: Civilian Cruiser - SnakeLancerHaven - 11-05-2013

Well I requested this before, a Colony Frigate for Civilians wouldn't be that bad imo, since the Civilians do the colonizing job, the nation gives the order, the civilians with military escorts go colonize. A Colony Frigate (Civilian Battletransport, something like a Civilian Salvager) wouldn't realy be out of question.

RE: Civilian Cruiser - Vendetta - 11-05-2013

Like the model, but why not just bring back the Researcher ID And the Corvo?

RE: Civilian Cruiser - AeternusDoleo - 11-05-2013

What civilians? If it's the house governments that sponsor such a colonization attempt it'd be house tech that goes out and about. If it's unaffiliated civvies going to scratch out a living in deep space, we've already got a faction for that. Zoners. And yea, the Zoners should have a battletrans, which was the original role of the Fearless. Why that got shoehorned into the destroyer role is beyond me to be honest...

"NO" to what? How could a model be NO? Big Grin
