DarkWing - faction feedback - ScornStar - 10-27-2008

Had a series of battles with ya'll yesterday. My faction got together and went around hunting ambushing your members as they were close to us.

I have to say while the odds were against ya'll your folks were good sports. Eventually it looks as if Crunch rallied some indies and then squashed us in Hamburg. Some of our units escaped.

Anyway bottom line kudos and thanks for the excitement. Make no mistake we watch for the "BHG elites" out there. We've shed some hotheads from our faction, and it seems your folks are more chill too. I hope this cooling trend can continue.

Take care. Fight cha later as there is little for us to do but war. However if you get a unussual idea PM me. Also just as a reminder if you have any probs PM me.

Kudos.

Gotta' say, no hostile intent, I would really like to see more RP out of you chaps. In the battle earlier in California, I honestly don't remember hearing one line of speech out of the 4-5 DWs in the system. Including no RP or anything upon engagement of our battle group.

Not flaming you. Just really, step it up please?

from what I understood, DW accuses their lack of roleplay on the back of everyone here because we dont make the first step.
well, heres what. No we wont. We dont even know that you actually arent just some 18 years old rich manhattan kiddies who decided to buy some fancy battleship from the Guild and shoot things for fun.
For as much as I experienced of the DW, this might as well how I conceive it. In server, you give absolutely no hint of what your background story claims.

So far, thats what I've seen - and dont ask me to recall names, I dont - I dont recall mute people, unless they did flagrant crap, really. But in my opinion a faction has the duty to maintain a high standard of roleplay in order to give the example to all.

DarkWing - faction feedback - Raekur - 10-27-2008

Orin, Xing, why should we? We have attempted in the past only to be met with sarcasm and snide remarks. With some of the comments made to us by the Xeno's, I doubt there will be ANY dialog with them at all. The Harvesters at least have made some attempts to RP with us, granted a majority of them have been power playing but at least it was something. The other thing you fail to remember is that if we are hunting someone, we are NOT going to say anything. Accusing us for being out of RP in this type of situation is moronic. You tell me ANY predator that makes noise before it attacks. I think this is the guideline that Suzy has decided upon and there has been no counter reasoning presented during any of our discussions. It is not out of RP for a hunter to remain silent. As to the argument for fairplay, how about the battlecruiser that decided to blast one of our fighters today? So please, do not preach at us about fairplay. What goes around comes around. I have NEVER seen DarkWing initiate unfair tactics in the three years I have been with them.

As I have always said, if you don't want us using certain tactics against you, don't use them against us.

I understand there being a desire for some dialog but considering there have been quite a few attacks against us without a word being said, why would you expect us to present you an advantage by saying something while your firing at us?

As to the roleplay history, sorry but we have already encountered several people who like to metagame a bit TOO much. Why should we reveal everything just so these pathetic twits can just come up with abstract crap to attack us? The stories are written, they are not changing. Roleplay works in multiple ways, if there is reason to believe that the information would be in the archives here, then fine post it. If the history would NOT be in the archives here, why should it be posted. Revealing the information in that particular case would be metagaming. The history could easily list both strengths and weaknesses. I could easily see some people here focusing on using the weaknesses against us and using abstract comments to nullify the strengths.

Not flaming back, just returning in suit.

' Wrote:Meh.... The only problem i have with your faction is that you dont allow your members be in other factions while being in DW...

Other than that you guys are awsome... ive had tones of very good roleplay interactions with the DW faction.... You are one of the factions that i hold in hig regards and respect.

Keep it up!:D

I really wish people would PAY ATTENTION.
DW regulations state that a member may not be part of any other clans not factions.
Almost every DW have independent characters in other Factions but not TAGGED factions.
There is a difference.

Just like the community here makes adjustments for past issues and problems so has DW. We have had problems with metagamers and people who join groups just to steal money or equipment for their other groups. Therefore we will not permit ourselves to be put in that situation again, just like the community here creates new rules that will not allow someone to do something that it itself has determined is unfair.

You do realize sanctions happen quite often for silent attacks? I think that's a pretty good reason why, don't you?

I have a mercenary, and in all my attacks against prey or others, I say -something-. This is an RP server, whether or not it's PvP perfect to break radio silence, you need to say something. Heck, I didn't even get an "engaging" from any of you.

And I said nothing about fairplay. Where did you get that? The battle actually started with the pirates' odds on the low side. You had an indy BB with you among about 2-3 GSs and 2 fighters. We had 2-3 GBs, a Dessie, and me, a Barghest (xD). No clue on what happened later on, as I wasn't there, but this statement:

Quote: I have NEVER seen DarkWing initiate unfair tactics in the three years I have been with them.
just made my day. Thank you. I'm not even going to add to this.

And I love how you take my comments as flames. I ask for a bit more RP out of you on an RP server? Okay, if that's flaming, I'm on fire.

See you guys around.

Explain to me the logic behind this. Are you saying that being in any other tagged faction will bugger with your members time online in your faction? Are you worried they'll figure out how keyboards work? Or do you just enjoy monopolizing your member's Discovery lives?

Also, please explain to me the lack of talking again? Are you saying that since you're going to be fighting anyways, there's no need, or do you just not care? Frankly, it doesn't matter what a predator would do, or what Suzy has decided on, it's the rules. Personally, I think there's a fine line. I'm a tank gunner, we're going to start shooting off flares before we open up, just to make sure they know we're here, but freelancer is NOT real life, and speaking before you attack is a precaution against PvP whoring, something I feel this faction is coming dangerouly close to.

Same thing from me, that wasn't a flame, but I'm warning you that the DW already have a rather impressive reputation for PvP whoring, and claiming you're not going to say anything before the shooting starts isn't really helping.

Quick Question: What's the ratio of capships to players in your faction, including gunboats?

DarkWing - faction feedback - JakeSG - 10-27-2008

In my opinion, there are lots of idiots who attack without saying a word. Instead of joining them and making the matter worse, lead by example. And if somebody attempts to RP with you, respond in kind.

If somebody opens fire on you without a word, they're fair game. But for people like Orin, who RP with everyone, saying one or two words before a fight, don't resort to low tactics, obliterating them while they're typing, before an engagement.

Trashtalking is part of a game. It even happens in real life. It is my understanding that in every game Hunters like to flaunt their power, make their presence known, make their enemies fear them before they touch the trigger. They are not assassins. Assassins have honor.

Not attempting to flame. And the above comment was directed at the stereotype, not the faction. There are unofficial rules of engagement (codes of honor, fair play rules etc), among the members of this server. RP before PVP, else you'll find your house has exploded into flames.

I really dislike how you suddenly show up at hostile bases. Not going to say any names, But i have seen [DW] tagged vessels near Rochester and Beaumont. I personally think that you should stay away from junker bases if you're flying our enemies ships.

Yes it was fun:)... even though you caught us napping...quite a surprise when I was faced with 6 harvesters!....if I had known you were coming to call I would have cooked something "special" for you.

Now to some of the other posts.....
We have said before ....DarkWing acts swiftly and silently for the most part. We are "dark"
In fact most hunters that are efficient do not spend a lot of time broadcasting their presence or chatting or arguing with the enemy. When we attack, you will usually hear something like "engage target"or similar. That is far more "in role play" than some of the oorp whining and complaining I see in system chat.

As for multi clanning....we do not multi clan. Our members know where their loyalty lies and back eachother up in fights. We are a team. There is no confusion about which clan they will fly for. Also most of us would not have time for more than one clan, life in DW is busy! But as Raekur already mentioned, members can, if they wish, and if they have time, be in other factions, with no tag..... there is a difference.
Now, that is DW. Other clans may choose to operate differently, that is their choice.

Other question about ships....
Of the 27 registered on Discovery-
most DWs have fighters, bombers or gunships a few have cruiser or destroyer and approx 4 have battleships.
