No. Digging through a thousand imgur links for hours on end is certainly a sign of obsession, though. If the heap of so-called "evidence" provided after doing so is 99% utter bullcrap, that makes it very very malicious to send in as "evidence" as well. The player was trying to get his targets sanctioned by making it look like the Reavers as a whole broke rules continuously, while it was just one poorly-repped ship out of a hundred. There's a reason the sanction was reverted almost immediately after being reviewed.

Please don't pretend having a neutral rep to the BHG and shooting BHG ships once or twice is extremely evil either. The ship was a Liberty bounty hunting ship. It never left Liberty. It never approached a BHG station. No advantages were gained from the ever so slightly iffy repsheet.

And I'm sorry, it happens to be very bad RP to not hunt and shoot bountied players as a bounty hunter. It'd also be pretty bad RP to first ask the target politely if they would like to be shot.

Anyways, all I wanted to point out is that, if a player puts in enough effort, they can make themselves look like victims of some horrible crime by digging through forum posts and screenshots of in-game interactions and collecting everything that could be somehow interpreted as bad. The admin team was successfully manipulated in this way more than once. It can happen again.

*Geoff feels mildly worried about matters he almost grasps but has never experienced and/or failed to recognise in previous encounters.*

Because if you need safe zones, do the RP entirely in Skype and Forum. We even have protected systems like Baffin and Omega-49, where nearly everyone is welcome as long as the weaps stay cold. Without any chance of something happening that could be bad for you, you don't even need to log. The environment has to be risky, or it won't make fun and you don't have interesting encounters. I say that as PvP-noob and generally the person that cloaks and runs first.

I agree that the admin team can be manipulated, and that the admin team can have manipulators in its ranks. Which is the reason why transparency, and rules that admins must abide too, are needed. However, I do not agree with the "the guy was mad, so his reports was malicious and should be ignored" attitude conveyed in your post. A rule violation should be treated as such, no matter who reports it, or why, and no matter who got reported.

So you're basically saying that people shouldn't log onto the server unless they want to explode?

Are the valuable server slots so rare on the cramped server that they need to be reserved only for people who want to shoot and to explode?

You can't interact with and meet new people in Skype and the Forum as you can ingame. It's an entirely different environment.

How is that an argument for not having more of those? By your reasoning, those that you used as examples should be killed off.

You wouldn't need to log if there was no chance of something good happening, not if there was no chance of something bad happening. Your argument is nonsensical.

If people want to have fun in a risky environment, they're free to leave the safe zone and enter the risky zone.

I'm only calling for zones that make sense IRP, where people are safe from being targeted by gank-squads that enjoy ruining the fun of others and removing them from the server by giving them no place to stay without being blown up.

And I'm only calling for them in places where people talk, not where they make credits or get to kill others without getting killed.

RE: Gentle Reminder - Yber - 08-20-2016

Just for the record, as I understand a report is considered malicious exclusively when it contains partial or edited evidence.

RE: Gentle Reminder - sindroms - 08-20-2016

You know, I just realized. If you want the safest spot to RP ingame at, go to Connecticut and RP there. You need the consensus of both sides to pvp there. If that isn't ironic..

If you could stop putting words into my mouth, Magnifique. Thanks. Nobody logs because they want to explode. I never said that, and that is entirely dumb. What I said, if you really need safe zones where nobody has not even the opportunity to shoot you, do the RP in Skype or the Forum. The only danger in the Forum is the metagamers, and even that is more or less unproblematic as it is rare. If you expect to have RP with someone and not allow anything, be it good or bad, then you're definitely wrong on an RP-server of a sandbox-RP-server.

Because those systems are rarely used by people. Look at the player list and look how many of them are well known RP-focused players. That's a lot of them. They don't stay in Baffin or Omega-49. Not even I do. They move around, look for certain people to interact with - and yes, this includes getting involved into other people that actually can harm them. Also, I didn't imply that those should be killed off. Can you please just stay with what I write and not what you think I want to say with that? Baffin and Omega-49 are special places, they are unique, they have a reason why they are. But with a low playerbase we have, we don't need more safe zones like them. Aside from that, you're not 100% safe in those systems, as that only prevents people that care for their Zoner reputation. Name-changing pirates would give a fuck and pirate you there anyway.

If think you missunderstood what I said here, or you're extremely picky to 'win' a debate in a forum. Congrats. The way you put it, it's nonsensical to you. In fact, I was talking about the way it currently is. Whenever you log in, everything can happen. You can get pirated, you can get attacked for ridiculous reasons - if someone wants to attack you, he will get a reason, even in Baffin or Omega-49. Some people don't give really much about the No-Fire-Zones, and that's absolutely as it should be, just to prevent people from being like "You can't attack me here!" - it's the difference between LAWS and RULES. There is no rule that protects you infinitely. Sometimes it's very good to have something happen that reminds you of the vulnerability of everything you can have ingame. That makes a deep RP character even more interesting, as many people play their characters like "Wot, I died in New York? Nothing special, here I am, alive, nothing happened, I'm god, as long as the game mode is like that".

You have Baffin, Omega-49, you have systems that get rarely visited like the Taus. You have spots on the map that get rarely visited. You have a 3D map to hide from any enemy. You can stay 13k above or below the plane to see who leaves a trade lane and still you can contact them. You can get a battleship-sized ship or a Corvo, install the Cloak MKII ADV and have 15 minutes of consecutively cloaking time, or have a smaller ship with a smaller cloak to run away quickly. With a snub, you can even run away from enemies, if you catch a time where the disruptors aren't continiously fired. I play Discovery for five months now and NEVER had a problem with the possibility of getting attacked. And I move quite a lot through the systems, be it with gunboats or with my Mako. If I want some people to not see me, there is nothing easier than that. You even have the dumb player list ingame, showing you exactly who is in your system. While I'm not a friend of it, everyone uses it, especially the guys that go on a hunt. So I use it as well. Just not inRP.

Or just stay in the close viccinity of a base you can dock. Those are everywhere.

Even there are alternatives, however, shooting is reasonable if the two lines minimum is at least well written instead of no-caps-punctuation-name-dude saying you're about to die now. Escorting someone out of space, fining, questioning the reasons of the appearance and such. If someone really wants to RP that little encounter, it's doable. However, I don't know your situation and whom are you talking about, so you better discuss that with the people that are mad about you.
