I didn't see where that's stated, probably because I don't read most of the forum posts. Thx. RE: [Regional event] The Scouring of Bering - Archaetherial - 05-31-2020 Here, although what I failed to tell you - apparently if death by mines wasn't accidental, but intentional - it's reportable. Though I'm not sure how that works. Thus, ritual suicide I described is frowned upon it seems and you have to do it by your combat incompetence instead. To be explicitly clear, during an event this is sanctionable behaviour and should not be attempted under any circumstances. Accidental self kills while attempting to mine an enemy are okay, intentional kill denial to avoid giving your enemy a reward is exploitative and punishable. TBH this is really sucks that you cannot gather a point for the kill you've done, but he suddently blown up on his mine. Maybe this isn't special to denial your points but anyway something must be done with it RE: [Regional event] The Scouring of Bering - Its Raisu - 05-31-2020 The only way I could even think to be able to identify a mine-suicide as being intentional with the purpose of denying the kill credit would be someone going full-auto on their mines and especially coming to a full stop when doing so to make sure their mine hits themselves. Anything else becomes questionable because CDing a target in the hopes of detonating their own nuke on themselves right as they drop it has practically ALWAYS been used as an offensive play to kill a target. I doubt its possible, but the work around for that would be if the server could identify who launched the CD that detonated the mine causing the suicide and give that player the credit. If it was the same player as who launched the mine then ofc no credit. RE: [Regional event] The Scouring of Bering - Archaetherial - 05-31-2020 jammi, I already corrected my second post with that new information. Although I don't really see why it's not a viable option. I would much rather kill myself and rob the enemy of the kill than let the enemy kill me if I were in a situation that would offer me such a choice. I suppose we arrived at another thing that's done in a particular way in computer games that I'm yet somewhat ignorant of. Couden, I agree that it sucks, but if someone managed to kill oneself and deny you the kill then it's clear that you haven't done the kill. That's my logic here. Have in mind that I am yet to participate in any combat against other players in Freelancer myself, so my approach is that of an outsider until that point arrives in time. Its Raisu also has a point that in general, it would be very difficult to differentiate whether the player died by their own hands or the ineptitude of their mining technique. RE: [Regional event] The Scouring of Bering - St.Denis - 05-31-2020 Dying by your own nuke happens all the time, even when there is no payout or points to be gained. It is just one of those things. RE: [Regional event] The Scouring of Bering - Lemon - 05-31-2020 First time ever I managed to max out an account Any my first 15+PvP kills in a week thank you Jammi and Co for this event
RE: [Regional event] The Scouring of Bering - Kalhmera - 05-31-2020 With the incredible amounts of Ganking by the Lawful Side I wont be partaking in this event anymore. They just docked when we finnaly had higher numbers to challenge them. They when they are sure they have higher numbers they log back in together and gank everyone red. This is not fun. RE: [Regional event] The Scouring of Bering - Apollon - 05-31-2020 So. 2 Arbiters, 1 Overlord, 1 Osiris, 1 LABC, 2 HFBCs and some reavers against 1 carrier, 1 overlord, 2-3 LABCs is a gank. Ok. Edit; Oh. Sorry, there was a gunboat too! Edit 2: 1 Heavy BS (carrier), 1 LABC vs 1 light bs (Osiris) and 1 LABC in a system full of asteroids while the second party kept hugging a pob is a gank too. Ok. |
