Salve, fratelli e sorrelle.

What an eventful few weeks it has been. In just under a month I've watched my family's operations expand almost exponentially. Porto d'Anzio's cardamine production has nearly tripled and my chief smuggler "La Volpe" has personally delivered over one hundred thousand units of cardamine into Liberty alone. From this newfound prosperity and with the aid of Starfleet engineers, I have commissioned and put into service the L'ombra del Corvo, a Sarissa-class battleship - Il Lupo Nero, a Hasta-class battlecruiser - the Sognatore, a Corvo-class explorer and an Aspis-class transport for my chief smuggler. As of yesterday morning I have also secured a Hegemon-class mining and hauling ship to aid in the maintenance and supply of our starbase assets.

* Don Gotti tenderly swirls his glass, aerating a faintly glowing blood orange liquid within - kept chilled by a single large ice cube. He brings the glass to his lips and savors the aroma for a moment before closing his eyes and knocking back the liquid. Whatever this seemingly alcoholic drink is, the Don appears to enjoy it greatly. He exhales a satisfied sigh as he slowly re-opens his eyes, and for a brief moment his damaged eye seems to glow brighter. *

All of this could not be possible without Commandantes Alpha and the rest of Starfleet. As the Gotti family grows, our gratitude shall see Starfleet repaid in kind. I have instructed Il Lupo Nero to patrol our neighboring systems and hunt down our enemies and traders foolish enough to enter our system(s) without paying proper respect. The L'ombra del Corvo has been tasked with protecting Omicron Alpha and assisting in large-scale engagements. Their performance thus far leaves room for improvement though I expect this to improve as their crews gain experience and automated systems aboard are replaced with our kin. The small size of my family leaves the L'ombra del Corvo, especially, in the unfortunate position of relying heavily on automation as we cannot yet fully crew such large vessels. An unexpected benefit of this, however, has emerged. As Ms. Gomez' report details, the L'ombra del Corvo suffered significant damage and was disabled during the recent craven attack of la sporcizia cannibalistica on our home. Capitano Francesco Gotti, my nephew and Gotti capo, detailed in his report that the L'ombra arrived to find our forces significantly outnumbered and to save Outcast lives, ordered his crew to the most heavily shielded sections of his ship, allowing automated systems and robotics to manage ship systems and regions most likely to be damaged or destroyed. Il buon capitano goes on to report aggressively engaging and drawing away three capital vessels, the "Diablo Gris", "Diablo Inferno", and the "Vizier", buying time for our forces to focus fire and reduce the savages' numbers. After destroying the "Diablo Inferno", Capitano Francesco reports the remaining two vessels disabled his ship and turned back towards the battle to find their compagni consanguinei falling in droves to their betters before being butchered themselves like the animals they are.

Capitano Francesco and his bridge crew suffered significant injury, while the remaining crew ordered to central, shielded areas of the ship reported few injuries and zero casualties. The good captain and his bridge crew have earned a few new scars but after three days of recovery, he and his crew have returned to their duties. I have instructed the crew of the L'ombra to log their experiences with ship automation going forward to see if there are other practical implementations we might use to safeguard the sons and daughters of Malta.

Per la gloria di Malta e il sogno arancione,

Report: Expeditions
Stardate: 19.09.834

Buenos tardes.

As you know, the Starfleet has recently been reinvesting into more expeditions toward foreign and uncharted space. I have been placed with the mission of overseeing the exploration of the Omicron Pi system. Our forces have already added this system to the Maltese star charts, however further expeditions past the Planet Knossos have been neglected. As per the orders of Commandantes Alfa, I was given the command of five Asesino personnel, designated Asesino Pi-1 to Pi-5, for the dedicated charting of the system. We are currently operating out of the destroyer Cazador hidden within the Palau ice cloud, which oversees the security of our operations and provides a launching point for us.

Due to security and defense reasons for our home base, the Cazador, we operate only out of squadrons of three at most at a time. These are the results of our expeditions to Omicron Pi.

Expedition II has highlighted something of major interest... further investigation of the anomaly will comprise our fourth and final expedition. I wanted to report back everything I found thus far at the quickest available notice, as my squadron is currently operating out of the destroyer Cazador in the depths of the Omicrons. We return once every few weeks to Freeport 11 in Omicron Delta to purchase fuel and supplies and we are there now to send a secure communication back home to you. Our Cardamine provisions were well stocked at the beginning of the voyage, though recently our provisions have been running scarce. Expedition IV is to be commenced soon and once it is completed we will return to Malta. I will report our findings at the earliest available time.

Until then I will attempt to check in at least once every week as I have done previously. We will be forced to return to home in five weeks, when our Cardamine storages will begin to near depletion, if we have not yet returned sooner.

Arrivederci, fratelli.

Report: Expedition IV
Stardate: 13.11.834

Buenas tardes, hermanos.

We have returned from our expedition. It took longer than expected for everything to be sorted out, but now I am able to compile the finished logs of Expedition IV.

Together with the Asesinos Pi-3, Pi-4, and Pi-5 we set out for one final search of the Omicron Pi system, this time searching for the secrets of the Dolos Nebula.

When I had returned to Malta, I found I had been badly burned when the mine cracked my ship. My ship tended to, I was able to compile everything I found. I sent the Artifact down to our scientists in the Starfleet Headquarters for examination, perhaps we may be able to discover something new from it. It may prove its usefulness in research and development.

That is all.

Arrivederci, fratelli.

Report: Hispania Gravesite Encounter
Stardate: 07.03.835

It appears that the name of Malta is not feared as it should be. We have striven recently to amend that, yet it appears that some have not gotten the memo.

And so we decided to remedy that.

Two days ago I was patrolling Omicron Alpha when I noticed radio chatter emanating from the Hispania Debris Field. I decided to make sure that it was only our brethren and not outsiders intruding on our fortress.

When I arrived there were three Zoners - [MFE]-Hans.von.Goeben, [MFE]~Penicillin, and The.Darkstar.Monarch lounging in the graves of our ancestors. They did not seem very receptive to my presence until more of our brothers, the HS>Eliminador, MNS-Pescara, and Rico[404th] arrived. We learned that they had been dealing with a "medical emergency" yet it did not appear so much an emergency as a convenient "meetup place" as they themselves put it. One of the ships even had mining equipment on them. It was at this time the GCC|Amalfi and a Sabre pilot Carlo.De.Santis arrived, and we furthered the investigation.

Given that they were outsiders who had trespassed just outside of Malta, even more so the sacred ruins of the Hispania, and they were not an expected ally nor a Cardamine hauler, we gave them the boot. We crippled the ship with the mining equipment and ejected it back to the Tau systems, and ransomed the other two trespassers. A detailed log of the encounter can be found below

We also met a lone Corsair gunboat. It was dispatched quickly in a fiery duel to the death, yet it emphasizes the need for greater security on our borders.

Perhaps these may serve as a warning to others who would think about acting so irreverently in our borders. Malta must remain a citadel for our people and allies alone.

Arrivederci, fratelli.

Report: Raid on Crete
Stardate: 4.24.835

Saluti, fratelli.

I come with excellent news - Word of our victory over the Corsairs above their filthy planet.

We had heard of a temporary weakness in Crete's defensive perimeter from our spies entrenched in the artifact trade. It was decided by the Comandantes that we should exploit this to our fullest advantage while the window of opportunity was open.

A fleet of moderate proportions was assembled, consisting of many capital ships; several battleships including one Ransuer class, multiple battlecruisers including my command, the Meteora, at least 2 Storta class vessels and numerous snubcraft.

We had expected a large Corsair force to amass once the alarm was raised, and we were correct. A significant force of Corsair capital ships appeared to meet us on the field of battle, exceeding ours in tonnage with at least three battleships among other smaller capital craft.

The battle began in fits-and-starts, with our smaller vessels performing short sorties into the enemy lines before returning to the bulk of the fleet, probing for weaknesses. Our main concern was the proximity of nearby Corsair garrisons - their reserves were sure to be mustered once they had heard of our arrival and their comrades failure to dissuade us with their superior numbers.

Nonetheless, we pressed on. The lead ship of our fleet, the Ransuer-class Dream-Caster, was taking a pounding by enemy heavy artillery yet prevailed in the face of overwhelming firepower by the excellent maneuvering of her captain and crew. The sheer amount of plasma expended attempting to destroy the ship could have driven a stellar engine - no doubt.

The Corsairs seemed to, oddly enough, take a defensive stance despite their heavier fleet composition. It could have very well had been a trap they had set, but our more mobile fleet could easily retreat should they have decided to turn their heavy artillery on us. My ship was in the midline of these probing attacks on their lines, our "Moonfire" cannon sending blue projectiles burning through space, turning the nearest Corsair hulls into a pool of melted metal. As we had expected, however, the Corsairs did receive a trickle of reinforcements, not only from their capital and the surrounding installations but from far afield - Order craft entering from the vicinity of the Omicron Theta jumphole attempted a flanking manuever - one battleship and one battlecruiser, but were quickly and easily swatted down.

The Corsair scum failed to take advantage of the Order's... "genius" flanking attempt and continued with their defensive formation. Eventually, afterburner overheating caused their ships to fall out of formation one by one, meeting the ends of our guns in a explosive display unmatched since our victory over Freeport 9.

Our losses were minimal as we mopped up the remainder of their fleet and returned home, before more defenders reared their ugly heads. The full guncam footage of our victory is attached.

Arrivederci, my brothers-in-arms.

Report: Omicron Delta Scuffle
Stardate: 06.07.835

Saluti.

Recently, one of our gunboat class vessels, the Acechador, was dispatched to hunt convoys within the Omicrons. However, we believe it to have stumbled upon a Corsair ambush, after a reconnaissance request went unanswered. A search and rescue team was sent to track its last known location, and we have confirmed it was indeed destroyed, along with all hands on board.

Black box recordings indicate there was a large strike force of Corsair fighter and bomber-craft. After the presumed destruction of their installation, Reincarnation Outpost, we have noticed a significant drop in Cretan forces operating in the deep Omicrons. This sudden surge of their forces is troubling.

Reports by our pirating units have shown that transporting various commodities - including high value Artifacts and Iridium - out of the Omicrons has been steadily increasing as of recent. It is plausible that the Corsairs are attempting to challenge our forces for the local traffic, leading to a much more dangerous situation for our forces, as was shown through the loss of the Acechador.

I will be transferring more of my men to deep space patrols in the Omicrons. An increased Corsair presence cannot be tolerated. Our hunting packs will be given increased security for both pirating convoys and for eliminating Corsairs and other hostiles.

Within the black box recording we also found that the Zoner organization Phoenix valiantly supported our forces. Their support may prove invaluable as they are plentiful within this space, and also share a hatred for the Corsair brutes.

Finally, condolences have been sent to the families of the crew of the Acechador, and a funeral will be held. There is gunboat within the drydocks of Corsica Shipyard which is nearing completion. Efforts will be redoubled to finish the vessel, and it will take the place of the Acechador, as well as its same name.

The last flight logs have been left below. Arrivederci, fratelli.

Saludos.

We now approach the final quarter of the year 835 AS. While we reflect positively on the various successes which have taken place earlier in the year, there remain several matters which are still left unresolved.

We were recently contacted by the brutish Corsairs, oddly enough, in an attempt to establish ties for a ceasefire in Omicron Theta. While talks did not end up going anywhere, it remains a curiosity that they believed it even beneficial for them to reach out, against their pride, to attempt a ceasefire. I believe the overextension of their empire and recent losses have left several of their previous fronts as open wounds, which they must patch up, lest they lose them entirely. It would be beneficial for us to pour salt, as best as we are able, onto their wound in Theta, so we can hold greater leverage over them. Perhaps they might even be forced to abandon that front should it seem senseless enough to try and clutch it. Keep an eye open for any good means to be able to achieve these means.

We were recently informed of the diversion of significant forces to Bretonia. While we are not thrilled to hear of this, we will be actively seeking to support our brothers nonetheless. Assassins will be expected to increase their readiness in the area. Otherwise, the Cardamine trade has been recovering steadily and efficiently. Our convoys have been slipping through increasingly unnoticed. We have noticed increased security within Shikoku and Colorado, meaning many of our convoys will be redirected to pass through Bretonia instead of Kusari, and some of you will be asked to re-establish your operations there.

In other news, Michael Mdina has decided to resign from High Command, although he will remain in active membership of the Starfleet. To be his successor, Matteo Espada has agreed to take his place. We are certain he will execute his role with excellence.

Buena suerte, hermanos.
