I have just done a test with the Clydesdale with only 3 Mining Turrets and filled up 5000 hold in 4 minutes and 36 seconds. I would suggest that there is something wrong with your set up. I haven't tried the Clydesdale with 4 Turrets, but I cannot see how it takes you anywhere near 15 minutes for a 5ker.
The Surveyor is still very good to fill up Transports, though.
EDIT: With 4 Mining Turrets and 5000 Units, done in 3 minutes 46 seconds.

I find that my Hege takes about the same amount of time to fill 2500 gold and I raced a Clydesdale who mined 10,000. Same area, same ID and IFF, same time.
Just a thought.

Therefore you need create loadouts which have mining lasers at the same distance to the rock that you shoot. The more lasers hit the rock at the same time, the higher the yield. This can easily make a difference of up to 20% in total drop rate.
Turret placement for Annapurna:
> Slot 1: missile
> Slot 2: gun
> all other slots: Mining lasers
For the Annapurna, it would even decrease your yield, if you had full mining laser loadout because the 2 "not same distance" lasers keep you from scoring multi-hits. It's even more extreme with some freighters that have up to 5 aligned guns.

Sory it took a bit but i reinstalled disco and tryt agian yet no difference in the times.
Ok se here are my ship layouts Clyesdale&Hegemon
From what i know these ships are as they should be for dublin mining how ever my times are way off when compared to everyone whom tested.

For a start, you only need 4 Turrets on your Hegemon, to mine properly. These are at positions 1-4. Using any more will make things worse, not better.

Core and Order have the highest from what I recall. Something like 4.0.
