This is business, game dev is ruled by niche game market, most of players are kids so its eventually will lead to easier, maybe even dumb gameplay. Chris started his campaign to earn money through it, not to satisfy aged space sim fans.

The only solution I see are private servers that could somehow increase game difficulty through mods to allow "pros" to be happy riding hard and complex environment.

Actually I find freelancer better solution.Wink
Nowadays there are no hardcore gamers as it seems.

exactly, that's why I still work on my project, as Chris's idea is not FL at all as I see it now, after publishing his future plans at RSI.

From the sound of the way instancing will work you will never meet the players that have pvp turned off, so it effects you in no way whatsoever and you'll just get to fight people who want to.

So presumably that's not good enough for you because you can only enjoy killing easy targets that don't want to fight?

isolating players from each other is rediculous(in terms of gameplay interaction), also in that way piracy will be not quite possible through native ways. if there will be a strict world division for pvpers/traders/miners, it will be a dead game already.

Make Discovery mod/Server with the Mod-Tools provided by them and move everything there. (nerd)

I really, really hope we do this, and would pour entire days into helping.

RE: Star Citizen - Switchback - 11-18-2012

the Star Citizen Crew is doing a livestream, waiting for press release time.

Something that just recently was released (afaik) is that pledge ships have insurance, which is what I assume is if you die you get a new ship. this is...quite pay to win.

RE: Star Citizen - Xelon - 11-18-2012

it's a livelong insurance which counts only for the plegeships, you need/can buy an insurance for all your other ships aswell.

The insurance only coveres your ship not the equipment that you had on it so imo it's in no way pay to win.

Well, its cheaper to get back up and running after dying if you buy a pledgeship.

I don't think the crowdfunding will reach 5.5 million, because of the website being down. Its a shame, because getting a group together and raiding someones Bengal Carrier would make for some very very fun times.
