The of us in the Buccaneers thought differently. We weren't happy with the current choices for unlawfuls in Bretonia, or the fact that the only pirate group in Sirius without some political or ethical goal beyond profit were the Liberty Rogues (and the Gallic Brigands, maybe), so we decided to make our own.

There really aren't very many factions (NPC or player, official or unofficial) of 'generic pirates'. Very, very few, actually. Everyone has a cause. The Buccaneers have a cause too: Making money, though the reason for making money varies between individual Buccaneers.

Dude, calm down. We ask an average of 500K to TRAINS. Or some of your cargo, or even botts and batts, stop getting so mad because we pirated you. Its way worse in Liberty, were they just say "2mrdai".

I suppose you're talking to me? No worries Donutman I have taken no offense whatsoever. In fact, you have never pirated me. I am simply throwing in my 5 cents on the matter, and I just don't like this idea. I'm no fan of a faction with no ideological or political background.

If you do get official. If you do get accepted then congratulations and I'll meet you in space :).

Just to interject, the going rate a Buccaneer charges is down to the Buccaneer posing the fee. If there are three of us present, and we hit you for two million credits (a charge I generally reserve for 5K transports and incredibly annoying traders/pirates) that money is going to be split three ways - just be glad we didn't each charge you.

I also downsize payment depending on the ship type - 500K for smaller transports, one million for intermediate sizes, 1.5 million for medium-large (Tanker sized) ships and the full two million for the largest types. If you've given us a lot of hassle, I'll tack on an additional 500K to whatever charge I would normally have given you. Empty ships and freighters pay a token sum of 10K.

And I agree that not every system needs "generic pirates", but Bretonia is a particularly ripe breeding ground for that type of crime:

War wracks the land, tying up law enforcement. The economy has shifted into a war economy, meaning lots of high risk cargoes are being moved. There are two conflicting sides present in one system, meaning supply convoys from both sides are plying the space lanes. Bretonian corporate escorts have largely been drafted into the military, leaving transports undefended. The Corsairs are supposedly bogged down in Omega 5 by Wilde attacks (yeah right, but that's what the news says) leaving relatively little competition.

And I just lost track of the rest of my train of thought... Check the Buccaneer's Bay if you want to see some more Buccaneer RP.

EDIT: We're already official. We got official yesterday.

EDIT2: We really need a feedback thread...

Bretonian Buccaneers - Drake - 08-17-2009

Actually we are now official, as of a couple of days ago.

And I prefer my pirates without any idealogical or political background or cause. Most crooks don't have any reason for being a crook beyond greed or survival, and while it's great to have some unlawful/pirate factions with other goals, the fact that almost all of them do is something which has always bothered me.

Yeah, the same semi lawful guy in a sabre. Ah perhaps more encounters are waiting in the future.

Bretonian Buccaneers - Exsiled_one - 08-19-2009

Hope I'll see more of you guys in future. Damnit Leeds is getting full and noone is poking it!

Bretonian Buccaneers - Stoat - 08-19-2009

I still have nothing bad to say about any of the encounters I've had. Ivan is right, Leeds is stuffed to the gills with bad guys. I can't believe I'm the only hunter that's regularly around to shoot you all up, or chase hopelessly after you all! (maybe that's just a time zone thing) There's rich pickings to be had.

Bretonian Buccaneers - Dashiell - 08-19-2009

don`t worry Stoat, I have Clown in Leeds. just yell when ya need a hand.

on topic: haven`t met you guys yet. in fact, I didn`t even know you lot excisted.
I`ll fly my Bowex around Leeds more often. come and get me:P

Bretonian Buccaneers - Exsiled_one - 08-21-2009

Hey so, Bucaneers, when we meet in game again I have a good proposal for you guys. Not until we meet again, and I think it will rock!
