New Coalition Shipline - Thexare - 06-24-2010 ' Wrote:thinly veiled sarcasm will be returned in kind. It's a ship introduction for the models, NOT a balance thread. This is now either the second or third time you've been told this in this thread Mr. Jameson, so either comprehend or just flat get booted.I hope you two resolve your dispute somewhere the rest of us don't have to see it, but there is nothing about that model that fits a VHF. It's an LF. It's a Scimitar. And the Scimitar isn't exactly on the "large" end of LFs either. This is related to balance, yes. But that doesn't change the fact that the model is too damn small for a VHF. I have no objections to the LF model. But the VHF looks barely larger than the LF. Maybe it could qualify as a light HF, but that's no VHF. New Coalition Shipline - Curios - 06-24-2010 I want to SRP current Insurgent to keep it in next mod for my merc D: Really, i don't even like the current submission because all the models is a variations of dagger. You wont be able to keep the current one, even if you get Insurgent via SRP. If Insurgent gets replaced, your will as well. New Coalition Shipline - Curios - 06-24-2010 Q_Q New Coalition Shipline - Blodo - 06-24-2010 Ok, this thread is going in circles now. "I liked the old ships -> Coalition doesn't need new ones -> I *know* they *will* be imbalanced -> I liked the old ships". Three times in a row and it's getting a bit boring. I understand some people think that the only thing the dev team does is nerf outcasts and chew bubble gum, but believe it or not it is the dev team that will decide on the stats/size of these ships and NOT the modellers or the faction. The SCRA are not special. There is no point asking them about the stats thusly, because they simply do not have the answer. So can we move on already? New Coalition Shipline - tansytansey - 06-24-2010 Lets achieve a little clarity. ![]() They don't have a small VHF, they have a big LF. It's no smaller than your average house pseudo-VHF (which are HF models, remember. It's why they're much smaller than the Sabre and Titan.) and it will be balanced accordingly. It's not like Coalition Ships are gonna be whored by every man and his dog any way. New Coalition Shipline - Curios - 06-24-2010 You forgot to place Titan's picture here, Corsairs are the closest SCRA enemies, so i think that will be kinda imbalanced to fight that small thing with huge (nearly SHF sized) Titan. D: New Coalition Shipline - bluntpencil2001 - 06-24-2010 It's not a balance thread. New Coalition Shipline - Wuselkobold - 06-24-2010 I really like the design of these ships, but thats probably because the Dagger/Scimitar is my most loved ship in Freelancer :ylove: Balance wise...looks like the LF/VHF is about the size of a Nyx, can't see anything wrong with that, especially if powerplant and turn rate will be adjusted accordingly. New Coalition Shipline - Jinx - 06-24-2010 well - the claim that its ~ dagger sized is confirmed - i mean... the sabres upper part is a dagger - and from what i see.... the profile of the ship is pretty much identical to the upper part of the sabre. HardCMP images are nice, and even more helpful when you press "s" next time you post them ( showing their hitboxes - thats what really matters ) but i wouldn t be concerned too much. - when it turns out that the models are dagger sized, they get similar stats to dagger sized ships. - after all those doing the balance are no morons. a ship using the same hitbox or nearly the same hitbox as the ship that is being replaced can keep most stats. - a ship that dramaticly changes the shape is re-balanced of course... according to established ships around. in that case it should be quite easy. the dagger is balanced nicely - and when it comes to bomber and VHF - it might just end up with slightly weaker stats than the sabre - which is slightly larger. so there s no problem. |
