My first thought when I seen it is why is the scout symbol on it then is there a 4.85 out .
A french house I don't know it could be interesting if thats what it is. I'll put it out of mind for now I guess time will tell I'm also one of the ones who hopes there isnt a player wipe I don't know if I'd have the patience to build up again.

First, in the dev commentaries placed on an extended Freelancer edition (don't remember how precisely it was named), devs declared that extended into is part of the story. So, it's part of Discovery story as well.

Now, to the Alliance. Scandinavian countries didn't even have their own fleet. France and Italy had, and Starlancer intro says that their fleets were destroyed (I watched the SL intro before writing the story, and reviewed many other materials available). It doesn't mean, however, that nations were destroyed. Also, we've got information that 8 sleeper ships were launched, but 3 of them (French, Italian and Australian) didn't break through Coalition blockade. What happened back in Sol will not be revealed in this version (except for some hints). However, the French managed to build a second sleeper ship independently from their allies, in a remote hidden location.
Hispania... well, having Outcast Navy and Corsair Police would be a bit strange. If the nations would unite, which is very unlikely in the Discovery time frame, than it would be possible. But now I don't see a way how this can be achieved, since both Outcasts and Corsairs are more pirate groups than Houses.
3) - Does this mean that other Houses and other systems won't be updated? - No. Actually, a massive update is being prepared for many previously empty systems. This will affect Liberty and Bretonia systems most, and Kusari and Rheinland to a less extent. Also, several Edge Worlds systems will get an update.
5) - And what about release date? - When it's ready, and not soon.

Well boys, come on, it will help you to improove your language skills! I had French lessons till last year, and i hvae already big gaps. I'm sure bit frech colour help here^^
To Hispania: Well, what about "Espanizza Comercial Uni?n"? By the Outcasts for Cardi trading or by the Corsairs for Artefact trading. Or some of both.
to 3) actually i myself never said there will be no updates in the current houses. I know some about Kusari already^^ (Tau 65 now and then)
to 5) wouldn't have expected anything else. Whatfor do i want a bugged version, if 2 weeks more of testing could have helped to get rid of bugs. Altough i think there still will be bugs, no matter how long tested^^ (hopefully not such bugs that you need to avoid a system)

This is nothing but fantastic news. Regardless of our xenophobia when it comes to the French, this'll add all sorts of interest to the mod, it'll open up loads of new opportunities, and if there's a player wipe, I won't care 'cos I've got no cap ships!!
