To the Naval Operations Headquarters,

I hereby report from the front in Languedoc, where the 5th major fleet and assorted units have seen deployment according to phase two of Operation Kazan. Immediate entry into the system and with it the approach vector from the Tau region has been secured. Yet, as the Gallic war machine, taken by absolute surprise as expected, slowly springs into action friendly units have started encountering increasingly stiff resistance.

Since Nagasaki left the gate to Tau-23 behind and Akatsuki took a vanguard position, there have been several major engagements with Confederal units already. In these, adversary forces have displayed a will to fight that is to be expected from someone surprised and pushed into a corner, yet the shortcomings of their mindset are the same as they have always been. The Gaul presents itself as arrogant, unduly confident and as a victim of the same old superiority complex that has them see themselves above the Sirians no matter the missdeeds they have done. If nothing else, their ferocity in light of the situation is to be praised, yet it shows exactly why this operation must happen, and must be concluded swiftly. If left alone for not all that long the Gaul will be a threat to all of Sirius yet again and act upon his revanchist desires. And Kusari will suffer first and foremost.

Regardless of the initial application of our momentum, engagements over the course of the first few days have been mostly small scale and indecisive. Undoubtedly the culmination of combat so far has been the battle of sector 56 off of the tradelanes towards Nimes station. Both sides fielded several heavy assets and a number of light and heavy strike craft. Detecting enemy movements in the sector, our detachment of two battleships, one battlecruiser and a destroyer division encountered a similar enemy composition. Considering the odds and the importance of securing the immediate surroundings of the trade lanes, I decided to commence the engagement.

Over the course of the ensuing combat our heavy section saw extensive action and was eventually driven off. The remaining forces, supported by excellent fighter cover, managed to force the Gallic fleet to retreat eventually, wrestling a major victory from the enemy's hands. The nature of the engagement once again underlines the importance to counter the potent Gallic assets with a strong force of escort vessels around a core of battlecruisers, and makes a heavy reliance on battleship divisions a questionable choice for any commanding officer.

It is also to be noted that as altercations were at their peak, vessels belonging to what I assume is the security division of IDF actively sought the engagement and attacked our strike craft unprovoked. I know very well about the directives given out by the office of the admiralty regarding the treatment of civilian elements, and if it leads to the politicians winning their war without hampering the efforts to win mine, then I will gladly accept these restrictions. What I will, however, not stand for is supposed non-combattants opening fire on our forces and getting away with it. I will not trade the life of a Kusarian warrior for that of a vile Gaul. They have already claimed enough in the last conflict, so I suggest the politicians sort this out quickly, or I will have my units start actively seeking out IDF vessels so they won't have the chance to bite us another day. The incident has been marked in the radio logs.

On a sidenote unrelated to our engagements with the Gauls, as we returned to Nagasaki following the battle, we encountered a small wing of Chrysanthemums ineffectively firing at a friendly destroyer. I have no idea what brought them this far away from their holes, or what they thought they could accomplish, but they were disposed of quickly.

Konbanwa.

The strike into Gallia has so far been fortuitous, however recent skirmishes have been a tug of war with each side claiming victory in these short bouts.
As much needed heavier ships are becoming more common among the Kusari actions, we stand a much greater chance against the considerable amount of battleships fielded by the Gallic forces. However some of the battleships we have encountered have mistaken their size for invulnerability, and they were swiftly reminded of their mortality.

I have attached the casualties from both sides from the skirmishes I had the honour to be apart of today. My own destroyer requires immediate repairs from spending too much time in the vicinity of a Gallic Battleship.

Konbanwa,

I hereby report from the front in Languedoc.

After a brief stay on the Nagasaki, I intended to return back to the Akatsuki and get ready for the next task. On the way there, a Valor-class of the Royal Enclave was encountered, sitting well above the the first tradelane segment not under our control yet.

Their Captain was quite talk active, mostly we exchanged arguments where I repeatedly met the old-fashioned delusional Royal Gallic propaganda and mindset. Nevertheless, this was no waste of time, as I could witness this Valor and a Remembrance belonging to the primary fleets of the Confederal Defense Forces sit next to each other, openly not minding each others presence.
The Valor's Captain even spoke about unification, a doubtful claim but interesting nevertheless. Exact words are attached below, as well as a picture of the two Warships peacefully sitting quite close to each other.

To the Combined Fleet General Headquarters

On the aftermath of Operation Kazan, the First and Seventh Major Fleets led by the Matsumoto and Hamamatsu respectively have been committed to a lightning assault into the North corridor into the Confederacy of Gallia territory. The Shock and Awe strategies devised for the operation by Fleet Admiral (Kaisho) Hyong Shunso office have proved surprisingly effective on the enemy, who was used to covering large quantities of star systems with minimal forces necessary for criminal deterrence. Much like the Rheinland Military did upon us on the first and second invasions of Honshu, so did we upon the Gallics.

At this point in time, our projected goals for the Lorraine system have been mostly achieved. Defenses orbiting Planet Metz have been successfully pushed away from orbit, and engaged with relentless assaults from units of both our fleets. Reports indicate that our main opponent in the system, GDF Epinal Fleet was considerably beaten up, but has managed to retreat to a second line of defenses alongside GDF Venissieux fleet, in Burgundy. A weakened and under-supplied Luneville Guard Station was overrun and scuttled, and survivors taken as prisoners. So far, Naval Intelligence has produced nothing of note from their interrogation.

We have advanced deep into Lorraine and went across into the Burgundy system. Several civilian installation have come into range in the rear system, and target assessment requests sent to CFGHQ have marked Roanne Production Facility and Chateau Salins Station to be strategically important enough to be neutralized by KNF units. After assault and eviction of any people on board of the stations, both were successfully scuttled and should be out of our minds for the rest of the campaign. Vandoeuvres Space Colony, while having some logistical importance to economical network of Gallia, was too much of a civilian interest to be taken action against. units from the 7th Fleet have been tasked with patrol and observation to preserve it's status as an unoccupied, open station.

We have received the latest intel from KNI and KOI operations in the Burgundy system, and I can safely say one of our greatest challenges lies ahead of us. As I mentioned GDF Epinal has managed to pull away from combat, and has reached the lines of Avallon/Dijon Station, a considerable defense emplacement in orbit of Planet Nevers. Adding to that the presence of GDF Venissieux, an unknown value force to their defenses, could make the sector a though nut to crack. I hope to have several proposals for an operation against this force as soon as the next CFGHQ meeting occurs. It is likely that we will have to consider parallel operations to bypass Nevers and secure Alesia and the corridors to Ile-de-France.

At this moment, our forces retain good manpower values, and 7th Fleet forces have been keeping up with our advance and supporting our back. Occasional action by the 66th Advanced Battlegroup has also secured our flanks, and I'm sure they will be an asset for key operations depper in the enemy lines.

Haikei,

I'm all but certain I had an unusually active first patrol. Over the course of approximately two hours inside New Tokyo, Honshu, and Shikoku space, I was involved in several different engagements with Blood Dragon and Golden Chrysanthemum craft. I scored three registered takedowns across all engagements, and witnessed allied craft score a further two.

Code:
[01.08.2020 22:29:11] Death: Ariel.Rhiza. was put out of action by [KNF]Ni.Kyoko.Kishimoto (Gun).
[01.08.2020 23:11:30] Death: bd]-Junko.Miyahara was put out of action by [KNF]Ni.Kyoko.Kishimoto (Gun).
[01.08.2020 23:40:39] Death: [RDA]Ryuu was put out of action by The.Infighter (Mine).
[01.08.2020 23:54:31] Death: Mauve.Blossom was put out of action by [KNF]Nk.Ayako.Nishimura (Wasp/Hornet).
[02.08.2020 00:20:29] Death: GC-Triad-4 was put out of action by [KNF]Ni.Kyoko.Kishimoto (Mine).

The most interesting of these encounters was the Dragon pilot Miyahara in high orbit above New Tokyo. Disabling their Katana to the point where it was no longer combat capable took considerable effort, to the point where I was unable to return my Wyvern to the Yamaguchi for repairs and had to instead perform an emergency landing at Shibuya Spaceport, not far from the main New Tokyo docking ring.

Although levels of unrest within House space proper were well beyond what I had anticipated, the actions undertaken by our patrol wings today have hopefully helped to quell it once more.

I come forth to bring my report from the latest activites as part of Ginza patrol, in the New Tokyo and surrounding systems.

Me and my patrol were ordered to scramble to assist an KNF officer engaged by GC terrorist cell in south New Tokyo space. Other wings such as Fuji were also in the air, but we didn't manage to reach the combat area before the officer Ishikawa was rendered combat inoperable by the concentrated GC assault on him.

Soon we set on doing a search for the assailants who had fled the scene, and our patrol managed to glimpse a large GC vessel (callsign GC-Tsutuji)making it's getaway to a remote area in the Chiba Field. We were however unable to intercept it, as we were ordered to redirect our efforts in assisting Fuji-2, who had engaged the GC assassins in unmonitored area in Honshu system.

Ginza patrol was the next to arrive in the combat area, and we moved in to assist. Combat was tense and dangerous for our pilots, so there was little time for detailed intel gathering on the hostiles. Records show that Fuji-2, Ginza-1 (myself) and Santo Kaisa M. Hattori were in combat with GC elements with callsign GC-Kirisame , Ariel.Rhiza. and GC-Yumi. My vessel was disabled during the combat, after Fuji-2 had managed to take down the Kirisame and was taken down by the Ariel.Rhiza in turn. After action reports indicate that M. Hattori with the assistance of Nito Kaii Kyōko Kishimoto managed to neutralize the remaining hostiles in the area and withdraw safely back to regular patrol areas.

Other sortie later on by Ginza patrol on the New Tokyo system responded to the sighting of a LNS warship in orbit of New Tokyo, allegedly on a mission of diplomatic nature (scans 1 and 2. Ginza-2 was launched and together with several other officers on patrol (Nk.Ayako.Nishimura, Ni.Kyoko.Kishimoto, Sk.M-Hattori, and 'Ronin',|66th), questioned the Libertonian captain and proceeded with the escort of the vessel with the envoys back to Liberty. Upon receiving the information that the intrusion into New Tokyo space had been granted by a Commander.Tokugawa, we requested the contacts of such officer and tried to get answers from the individual.

Commander Tokugawa was taken aback by our persistence in maintaining Kusari space controlled and secured, and after much pressure to reveal details of why a (by his words) "classified" operation had overtly allowed LNS vessels waltzing into New Tokyo mooring points without a word to KNF, he eventually yielded his credentials as an officer for a KOI department dubbed "Division of Fire", under a callsign Embers. I'm sure the Admiralty or the KNI will make diligence to check with KOI and ensure this kind of communications breakdown doesn't happen as often in the future.

In the meantime, I recommend keeping a vigiliant eye for similar movements by singular LNS vessels in the future.

Today the Kusari Naval Intelligence conducted recon operations beyond the "frontline" of the 6th Major fleet in Dauphine. Focus was on the strategic objective of Fourchambault Shipyard and the gateway to Ile-de-France system.

Patrols around the Planet Privas sector and the Shipyard are varied and of moderate strength, but there are several vectors of approach that remain thinly defended from local forces. An assault on the Shipyard from outside the tradelane approaches seems viable, except for a single factor described below.

Continuing towards the Ile-de-France gateway, security exponentially increased to such levels that even our recon detachment would risk interception and trouble. Our teams found out that the Gallic Defense Forces have set the De Grasse Fleet on watch of the gateway, and it is providing remote support to the defense of the Shipyard. Both De Grasse fleet and the Shipyard are bolstering defenses of the Gap Station Line, keeping it strong against our frontal assault by the Nagasaki Fleet forces.

It is still unknown what force composition is operating on the other side of the gate to the next system, but if we wish to disable the Shipyard, and consequently weaken the Gap/Pamiers force, we need to take measures to neutralize De Grasse's fleet first and foremost.

Meanwhile, our main units are holding a line of attack on the Gap station, although many times we have seen the GDF forces taking the initiative and sallying out to push our forces into more defensive stances... (1, 2, 3 ) I have no idea who is overseeing those operations, but that is with them....

Kon'nichiwa honorable Kusari Kaigun,

My so-far experience under the Naval banner has given me sufficient material to express I did not make a mistake. My understanding of intelligence agenda has been kept therefore not lost as I conduct mainly assassinlike missions. The opening stage of the dauphine and burgundy front is the phase when I've finally flown as an Itto Kaii of the Kaigun. Today's move en route for the dauphine ended up in a skirmish where we achieved a triumph.

I initially departed from the Nagasaki's battlegroup towards the northern parts of the Dauphine system to conduct a swift patrol protocol. To my surprise, I failed to detect any hostile vessels, as they've been seemingly preparing themselves in the background for what is anticipated to occur. Upon my arrival to the D-5 sector, I detected several heavy battleships accompanied by destroyers and battlecruisers. Their weak point was fairly obvious as they lacked snub craft which can be crucial for survival. They were already facing our fleet comprised out of battleships down to fighters. Hostile vessels lastly decided to defend their space. In the meantime, as our fleet arrived at the hostile location to viciously strike them. I went towards the sector E-6, relatively close to the Akatsuki as I received a call the battlegroup spotted intruders contained out of several fighters. With some damage suffered, we had successfully disabled them and returned back towards the sector D-5 where are fleet was located at. Therefore, a major skirmish took place in the vicinity of the Gap Station, as we aggressively pushed the confederal units. The operation was a success with a clear victory, where we took some damage albeit the fact they've been apparently somewhat prepared.

The confrontation had ended, and I immediately returned back to the Nagasaki's battlegroup for further instructions. I attached the Combat Log of hostile targets that have been neutralized. I had to request minor repairs for my Wyvern to further resume my operations under the Kaigun. Sayonara until the next patrol report.

Konnichiwa,

At approximately 0900 Standard Time, I came in contact with a vessel belonging to the newly-declared hostile entity known as the Natio Octavarium. Said vessel was holding position on the trade lane route towards the Saga (Tau-29) jump gate, most likely attempting to disrupt incoming and outgoing trade or supplies from and into the system. Upon a short conversation I engaged the vessel and managed to cripple it and render it harmless as it lost most of its weaponry systems. Unfortunately, the pilot managed to escape and cruise back towards Tau-23, I persued regardless and after a lnog chase I arrived in Tau-44 at what seemed to be the Natio Octavarium main installation. Preliminary analysis indicates that the station is not very defended. A Crayter installation was also present near the entrace of the system.

Relevant data is attached below.

Topic: Today's Patrol

Haikei,

Another day, another report of insurgent activity in and around the home systems. I was scrambled from the Yamaguchi herself to respond to a Kishiro distress call in the vicinity of the Honshu jumpgate, along with Nito Kaii Mitsue Ohru and a member of the reserve fleet operating under an anonymous codename. We arrived on the scene just as the Kishiro escort fighter was engaged in earnest, and I am pleased to report that all three hostiles were destroyed in short order.

Code:
[04.08.2020 21:36:38] Death: GC-Meian was put out of action by Kishiro|Daikon (Mine).
[04.08.2020 21:42:58] Death: Ariel-Rhiza was put out of action by Imperial.Navy.Fighter (Mine).
[04.08.2020 21:49:22] Death: bd]-Junko.Miyahara was put out of action by [KNF]Ni.Kyoko.Kishimoto (Mine).

As the first battle was winding down, however, a second Blood Dragon emerged from the direction of the Hiryo Cloud, and was promptly engaged by our reserve fleet asset. Unfortunately, the Dragon succeeded in disabling our comrade-in-arms' ship and fled the scene before it could be pursued.

Code:
[04.08.2020 22:02:24] Death: Imperial.Navy.Fighter was put out of action by }|{-Keibetsu (Gun).

Following this, I returned to New Tokyo itself along with Nito Kaii Ohru, where a further Chrysanthemum ship was spotted stalking not far from Shinagawa itself. It offered little more than a few words of banal conversation before being engaged and destroyed.

Code:
[04.08.2020 22:16:45] Death: GC|Hajimari was put out of action by [KNF]Ni.Kyoko.Kishimoto (Mine).

Finally, the surviving Dragon from Honshu returned during the latter part of my engagement with the Chrysanthemum pilot, and a lengthy exchange followed -- the details of which are attached below. The pilot proved themselves to be as well educated as they are well trained in handling their craft, for both Ohru-san and myself were forced to pull back and eject within the vicinity of Shinagawa's patrol wings following a fierce engagement. I am, however, informed that Itto Kaisa Hayashimura finished what we started, and thus the final chapter of this patrol was somewhat salvaged.
