How to make Discovery better? - Simian - 12-23-2009
On a positive note, some official factions do not ask for control over the Independants. BAF are a good example of this roleplaying themselves as lower rank than my HMS-Nimrod Destroyer Character, yet in return I dont go ordering them around. We more cohabitate so despite technically I would be their superior, I know I'm an independant and thus wouldn't want to interefere with official BAF plans and motives. This way we all get to play alongside each other and have fun:)

I didn't answer your post, there were to many asking about what I did respond to. Give me one example of a player faction using up more of your spare time than an independent, and I'll answer. I've shown how it doesn't, you show how it does. You don't even make sense in the next part where you state you only have to follow an ID and non-player factions role-play, not a factions. You have to role-play your faction or you are breaking the rules. That's pretty straight forward.
I didn't state that they were exactly the same. But comparitively speaking, yes, npc factions and thier corresponding player factions are veryclose. In general the player factions are the logical next step of the npc factions. And why would players join player factions? That is what we have been trying to figure out, ways to get them to join, because there aren't enough perks compared to the drawbacks.
I haven't complained once about being killed on this thread, and I haven't heard to many others complain about it either. I have heard quite afew complain about capspam and ooc violations, but not to many about getting killed. And finally, you stated you had 35 characters and a high amount of cruisers said something sarcastic and then asked if you are part of the problem. Then yes, you are part of the problem. If the ships you fly the majority of the time are capital ships, yes, you are part of the problem.
I already answered on how official factions and NPC factions differ, and what rules you need to follow. You can go back and read that and get it through your head how someone is not breaking the rules if they do not follow the official factions. Sure, my [ESS] character uses up more time than my independent OC. I have to find everyone that is online, find out what they are doing, catch up on news and then usually participate in a smuggling convoy, or battle drills. If I am not doing that, I am on the forums usually writing something up or in the Skype chat discussing some [ESS] stuff, which I am not going to go into on the forums. My independent character, he flies about, pirates traders, of course whilst completely in role-play, and that is about it. (If you cannot see the difference, then that is fine, but it does not change the fact that there is a difference.)
Players would join official factions for the benefits listed in the first post in this thread. Go back and read. They can be similar but they can also be different.
It is not the complaint they voice. It is the complaint you read between the lines. I was being sarcastic since I wanted to draw the answer from you. The answer you have given simply proves my point about the bias you have against capital ships, which is now on display.
