And I would suggest to stop using that as a tool to appeal to people emtions who are witnessing the dispute as some sort of lever to win sympathy. Very unethical. Quote:I'd like to know how this works in situations where players are playing both sides? Because I did play both sides - had a blast doing it - and never concerned myself with who was winning or losing. Ussaly people plays and gives most attention to one side. And there are of course people who only participate in tactical small events like for example battles on both sides. As do I. But who wins that one doesn't really matter. Playing on both sides from long term strategic viewpoint it's pretty much like playing chess against yourself.. Boring. And more of a training than actuall competition. You just weaponized Brendon's death? Wow dude. Corsair - Zoner - DAnvilFan - 01-31-2012 Well, for whatever it's worth, I'm not out to win sympathy. I am however slightly disturbed by what I've read. ' Wrote:You just weaponized Brendon's death? Wow dude. Absolutely not. But I apologize if that's how it came out. EDIT: His passing made a long lasting impact on me, as I'm sure it did on a lot of people. Especially his last words to everyone. And I felt rather sick when reading some of these posts and remembering what he said, which probably made me get more emotional than I should have. Corsair - Zoner - Trogdor - 02-04-2012 I liked it much better when we had a Council that balanced the views and needs of all zoners, indie and faction-aligned. It also meant we had one central place to bring our concerns, complaints, ideas, and debates. It meant when a problem came up, there was one voice that responded in the best interests of all Zoners. Freeports autonomously deciding their own diplomacy? Rubbish. There's no way the Zoners would be able to field the kind of capital-class hardware and fancy tech that they've come up with if Zoner society was a loosely bonded conglomerate of independent stations. The actions of one branch of Zoners would undoubtedly bring negative consequences down upon other Zoners who had nothing to do with it. If a group of Zoners wants to make its own diplomacy, then they need to break off, go do their own thing, and no longer call themselves Zoners. In RP that number of capital specially juggy shouldnt be there. Corsair - Zoner - Sir_Now - 02-04-2012 Greetings all, I want to ad something too, to this nice discussion. First of all, i do understand Corsair motives completely and i think it is good RP. As i understand they have to endure a lot from growing Hessian forces. So, it's a very logical step to ensure systems so close to their home. Second, independent Theta Zoners will never leave Theta. Corsairs can demand it, but it wont happen. So i woke up my battleship crew that was bored hanging around at the bar at FP9, dusted of the old Aquilon and oiled our guns. Even if the Corsairs motives are right, they cant demand anything from Zoners at their own base. Third, too much Zoner battleships around?? I dont think so, even too little. You should know how rich even small groups of independent Zoners are. And how important the Freeports are to independent trading companies. Independent Zoners in Theta got billions SC in donations from independent trading companies last years. They could build enormous fleets if they wanted, but they dont because it's not their way of handeling things. Too conclude; i really welcome this good RP event, it's a logical idea of the Corsairs and will bring lots of fun and good RP to the Theta system again. And no, my battleship is not going to leave FP9, TROLL me away:yahoo: Corsair - Zoner - blubba - 02-04-2012 Quote:Quote:QUOTE(Curios @ Jan 31 2012, 05:15 PM) And that is where it all went wrong. I believe even Jameson said that it was quite understandable that FP9 might restrict it's docking rights to certain vessels that constantly put it in danger of reprisals. I assume he thought the same for FP10 but the one fundamental difference was that unlike Theta, Tau37 has a lawful base in it already so hardship for the removal of docking rights there to specific vessels wouldn't really be that hard on those ships would it? Whats more, Zoner cache would skyrocket on one side and still grudgingly increase on the other. The mistake (and offence) is the invitation of docking to the enemies of ones neighbours. Not a restriction to allies. Bases in Theta did offer succour to corsair enemies and that was the corsairs sticking point. If Zoners in FP2 wanted to make a statement on neutrality if 'annoyed' by Liberty, they should simply ban Liberty ships from docking there, not invite their enemies. Inviting their enemies doesn't just bring military attention bad though that is. More importantly, it stands in direct opposition to what the Zoners claim to be which is neutral. If they remain neutral, they have the backing of everyone in Sirius but once they pick sides, it's all over and here, people have long memories. With regard to the debacle of Theta, it is my view, the wrong choice (as above) was made and military action was the only 'choice' that remained. There was no option on the table for the corsairs and with certain external factors, 'unique' diplomacy and some individuals, the Omicroners had little choice in the end either. To much 'No U', testosterone and pimples frankly. Corsair - Zoner - lousal - 02-04-2012 ----------------------------------------------- Corsair - Zoner - Blodo - 02-04-2012 ' Wrote:*text*That's not what the Zoners are though. They are not a unified group, they are a label for freelancers living in the border and edge worlds. The way the Zoners are run right now (no central authority, each Freeport governs itself) is exactly how the Zoners are supposed to be in canon. Just because all Zoners fly under the same IFF doesn't mean that they have the same goals, the same ideas and the same diplomacy. Rather, the Zoner NPC faction should be split according to regions which can all adopt different diplomacy depending on the current political climate. This way Freeports can dictate individual diplomacy and we can get stop this silliness where a faction tries to blame *all* Zoners for the actions of a single Freeport. It really needs to happen since it seems that people just can't grasp the idea that the Zoner NPC faction is more like the Freelancer NPC faction - not a real faction, more of a label. Sorry Blodo, but Freelancers don't have bases in conflict zones, factions and groups or hordes of caps. While I agree that Zoners should be just another way of calling Freelancers, they are not. |
