Tsk tsk, you should know how to find that information. Number of Barge: 59. RE: The future of the barge? - Duvelske - 10-21-2012 (10-21-2012, 12:09 PM)Govedo13 Wrote: Nope. There should be no possibility to abuse build in via game mechanics not via admins/sanctions etc. Development balance flaws are not admin job. Well maybe implement like the gates a cooldown period? for the biggest jumpdrives then. but now i drift of from the barge itself.. RE: The future of the barge? - Govedo13 - 10-21-2012 It would be nice to have AD option here again- he is the most experienced about such stuff. I know that Barge is good part of the game and must stay in a way that is fun to use but not abusable as well. There have been couple of months since Cannon made the topic- may be they already found good solution to the problem. RE: The future of the barge? - Markus Seiler - 10-21-2012 I have a new suggestion. Maybe you can build a Barge on player bases. All you need is a shipyard, tones of commodities and lots of time to build it. Like a Cloak faktory, you know? Maybe this is a new solution for the problem. RE: The future of the barge? - Coin - 10-21-2012 i like the idea of making the barge a mobile pob. is it possible? 1. static pob builds a ship construction module 1.1 ship construction module is upgraded to maximum size 1.3 static pob can now build barge module 2. barge module (aka heavy lifter in a party frock) is undocked from base 2.1 barge module is 'deployed', but is a sitting duck in space (like the nommie battlesheeps in the hamburg mission, in SP) 2.2 barge module needs upgrading to become operational 2.3 engine modules, ship docking modules, jumping module, defense module (i.e. turrets) shield module, etc etc module 3 ship is now ready for action 3.1 ship requires fuel, food, crew, water, basic alloy, cryocubes, etc, just to keep it operational, or its a sitting duck. RE: The future of the barge? - Prysin - 10-21-2012 the most logical thing to do, as i see it. it buff cargo and armor and firepower. Give it Battlecruiser core and give it 8 BS light turrets (4 each side, 360 coverage). It will provide some better defense, but nothing in the ridiculous scale- then add it as an exception to engagement rules. barge is large and a free kill for anyone. That way, flying a barge becomes more of a danger then a simple test of patience RE: The future of the barge? - torusato - 10-24-2012 Don't know, but a little response of any Moderator or Admin could be informatical. Me and some mates just need the barge. RE: The future of the barge? - Jansen - 10-24-2012 Option 6 is all thats really needed. RE: The future of the barge? - Lumik - 10-25-2012 As co-owner of one barge, when I think about future of it, this comes to my mind: Barge should be prevented from using in jumping. It make too much mess in economic system when just two people can powertrade very effectively. This solves main part of problems which are connected to barge in these days. By the way barge jumping moreover doesn´t make too much sense inRP. Jumping ship (typically Zoner carrier or juggernaut in these days) is with strongest jumping device making a field of some size (which is little bigger than this ship with the strongest device). It makes sense that transport which is smaller or similar size in compare with jumper can be within this field so it is "dragged" with jumping ship to new location. But it totally doesn´t make sense when barge which is several times bigger than jumper, can do this too. Such a huge ship can´t just be co-jumper. Maybe devs can think of jump drive Mk V only for barge, which will take 20k of cargo space and 15k of fuel for one jump when charging will takes 15-30 minutes. So it can be used for barge movement (so people don´t have to survive that pain moving through big asteroid fields) but hardly for powertrading. Of course, barge should be of course also prevevented from using trade lanes, real nonsense. Because even despite model changed it is still possible. What I would like to see (and other people said it there too) is more barges just flying around because it is amazing view to see them similarly to supertankers in our world. To encourage this, barge should be playable by single player. Why not, when he can´t powertrade (you can´t really powertrade with barge after last speed nerf, by selling ore in 5k transport you make more money per second of flight with lesser risk, not speaking of pain of docking on some stations). For this, barge need better protection against NPCs which can be pain even friendly, not speaking of one hostile NPC which you can´t shot down without help because current transport turrets have too short range. Solution is simple, just give it special turret with longer range (doesn´t even has to be really strong) which can´t be mounted on other ships. If it is too complicated, just give it few cruiser slots (lighter class 6 only). It is still not enough protection against players, but enough against NPCs and this is like what it has to be. After that I think more players will fly barges around and not primarily for money but for RP encounters and feeling of flying with this giant, attracting attention of other players shouting "wow!" And that is how barge should be used, don´t you think? RE: The future of the barge? - ElekTeK - 12-02-2012 Number of Barge 57 The number is decreasing, probably because of some players that renounced playing Freelancer. The Barge should be left as it is now and make it available for purchase again. With the same rules as it was in 4.85. With a slight change. Should be sold only with CAU8 and a BS Scanner. So ship 500 mills, BS Scanner 250 mills and CAU8 895 mills. Let's round up to 1.7 bills. |
