Bought a new computer a few months ago, I can play better games now. Mostly still here just because of friends. I don't enjoy RP because mine is not up to my standards, and nearly every time I write something and then read or remember it later, I feel ashame and have an urge to delete it -- so I stopped approaching it seriously, but not trying isn't overly fun. I don't read other people's because it reminds me of either Hollywood films, or a thesaurus. PvP is better in other games because it's easier to find, fairer and more dependent on thinking than muscle memory and routine, so it keeps being fun because iz requires a different approach every time.

Yeah we have been trying to put positive thoughts and influence stop the base killing trolls and the server might flourish in population again

People have simply settled somewhere else and probably have other things to do (in terms of gaming). People simply do not appreciate the game and simply don't want to play it.

you lose interest to invest again, specially if you working hard during a day job and come to relax at night
and try to spend some nice time with your friends in an old epic game and work on back burner or front burner
on RP just to be wasted it kills the interest i dont even post RP on forum anymore seems like a waste of time

Been here since the early 2010s, came back fully last year, yet I only find lolwuts on Core chars farming everything. Plus the general ingame toxicity doesn't warrant quality experience here.
While there have been improvements compared to the early 2010s, where the RP quality was somewhat mediocre at best, the loss of the old playerbase is truly saddening.
For me I find nothing that keeps me from playing, but it's hard to interact when all you get are people who behave like lolwuts.
The 2020 one is an exception because of the lockdowns, which prompted people to play Disco again. It remained until May 2021 when the player count dropped significantly, because of summer and exams.
2012-2013 was way more active, you got a minimum of 40 players and a maximum of 180 players. Now, it's just 10-20 players most of the time spiking up to 30-40 (50 in the weekends) during peak server hours.
Exactly mate then you still get trolls running people and many of my friends as proof off the server just to get your rocks off or just because you like to grief players i think all can
remember that ai gang going from system to system throwing 1 line rp in local and then kill or attack any ship lot of people just left then cause what the fun if you undock and get
gang jumped and killed without proper story line RP
And spewing 2 lines RP to a Zoner whale from an ai ship that the zoner whale is a threat like what is he gonna CM the ai to death is just very distastefull to start with.
As long as these trolls are allowed and left to do what they want the server pop wont grow they chasing people faster of the server then what i can make new friends and help new noobies have a good start.
And that is the truth of it all

People with a "fuck you I've got mine" mentality, pvp that boils down to stomp or get stomped, metagaming, powergaming, empty systems, update schedule that rivals the legends of 4.86, everybody wanting to be the most powerful and biggest faction ever even though they're supposed to barely exist IRP. Nobody wants to be the everyman, everyone wants to be Commander McMillion Fleets, the gameplay boiling down to stalking the playerlist to log one of your million copy/paste ships to chase someone down for an interaction only for them to be a silent base supplier, being a power trader, sitting in empty space praying for someone to come by, or being one of said base suppliers. The game's just become boring. All negatives, no positives.
Last time I played was about a year ago. Had someone tell my character all about stuff they shouldn't have known and made up a BS story saying I did things that I never did. Logged out, deleted the game, gave my stuff away. If that's what passes for quality RP these days, I want nothing of it.

I've got better things to do than play a game with some of the worst people I've ever encountered on the internet.
The best thing I ever got out of this game was spending years being a backend programmer writing some of the most fucked up code I've ever had to shit out for an anticheat and that helping me get a kickass job as a datacenter architect, so maybe thanks, you assholes.
Also it's 2023 and you still censor the kind of swearing you can get away with on the radio before 9pm. Christ on a bike.

I play as {zoner}snake plisskin again and play Friday and Saturday usually late at night because of work I work the 10 pm to 7 am shift now
