Should official factions have more power? - pchwang - 05-27-2009

No, official factions don't need more power. While we don't need something like a council to share power evenly, we also do not need a few individual faction leaders who do happen to have power-hungry egos to go around and dominate over every single person whom they believe have lesser RP or simply can't speak english well.

Things are fine as they are.

We're just brooding, and our minds are wandering because the server's down and we have nothing better to do.

EDIT:

I would like to point out that because the surveys conducted on the forums are convenience surveys, they are not representative of the entire server's opinions, and as a result, void.

I voted no.

Factions carry enough power as it is now. Creating and organizing a large faction is power in itself. Being able to recruit and keep people is a testament to the faction leader(s) ability.

Any sort of ship or weapon restrictions outside the current server rules would be silly. People abuse power and it's just a fact of reality. I don't think faction leader judgment is significantly more sound than indy judgment. There are good and bad factions that come and go and stay. Best to just leave it the way it is for now.

Are you kidding me? Why should my RP be dictated by a couple of players who happen to be in charge of a single faction?

If my Zoner makes a living in the slave market, then so be it.
If a BPA ship wants to engage Outcasts on patrol, then so be it.

This is the worst idea I've heard here.

What was wrong with discussing it in the other thread?

Because it makes player diplomacy possible? Because they are many and you are one? Because they have already established their RP and you don't?

Sure you can try to go against the rules a player faction has set up. But don't expect to get away without in-RP consequences - your Bret military char who happens to go after Outcasts despite being ordered not to do so may be dishonorably discharged from the military or declared a traitor (I don't know if the BAF would do that, it's just an example).

Outcasts which attacked the BAF are getting in-RP consequences. Like you wont be tolerated docking at Malta anymore. You could possibly get a Bounty or like other people we know, becoming Hostile to a few more factions.

I voted yes. Official Factions should have more Power. The Factions are able to roleplay really good. They are not Official because they just wanted to have a tag. What if we would have a couple of people playing the Council of Dons if they had absolutely no power? That would be senseless. I am for more power for official Factions and more Roleplay.
