Independent Miners Guild Recruitment channel (iRP) - Jazz - 09-06-2011

The heavy bass thumped the hull of the Starblazer as it cruised in the high atmosphere, Jakobe's head nodded slowly with the beat of the song. His practiced hands glided across the panels, pulling the little fighter higher and higher in Leeds thick, smokey atmosphere. Despite his best efforts the beaten and dated craft rumbled even more with turbulence and engine shakes than from the blasting music inside.

"Leeds, baby, this is Tre. Breakin' loose. Check clearance for lane jump to the New London gate." Jakobe purred in a silken voice like molasses. Sounding as if he had all the time in the world to say what he wanted and that he intended to use all of it.

Once he got his clearance, the craft shot into the tradelane. Grabbed by the energy web transmitters the Starblazer is thrown from one ring to the next and improbable speeds. But when one set of rings happened to be powered down inactive the fighter was tossed unceremoniously into space. Jakobe was tossed in his seat, thankful for his inertial compensator and restraints, he fought hard against the raggedy ship to pull it back under control. At that moment several alarms and sirens began to blare from the control panel alerting of hostile targets. A quick glance confirmed a full wing, six Mollys bearing down at him.

Without hesitation he punched the control panel, diverting power to bolster the shields and power the weapon capacitors, and setting his music to a near deafening height. An alarm began to blare over the music, warning of an impending missle lock and Tre slammed both the throttle and the control joint forward, wrenching the Blazer into a tight dive, just as laserfire seared through the space he had until recently occupied.

He thrustered hard and heaved back on the joint, coming up undernead the Wolfhounds, which broke formation and split in different directions. Targeting in on the far right craft Tre cut the thrusters and throttled back, peeling after the pirate and sliding smoothly in behind him. As the large ungainly Wolfhounds tried getting around to assist their comrade, Tre sighted in on his target. The Wolfhound cut back left, trying to head back towards hit's comrades, but inadvertently put itself in Tre's crosshairs. The nimble Blazer throttled down and easily tracked the Hound and pounded him with everything he had. The Vengance cannons drilled away the Hound's shields and peppered the hull before the capacitors gave out and Tre had to peel away from the vastly superior firepower of the larger ship.

Tre gunned the thrusters again, cutting around close to the lane rings to make use of his handlin advantage. Slowing, he managed to draw a bead on his target once more and opened fire, moments later the Wolfound was spinning away from the battle trailing smoke and flame. However the bold maneuver had thrown him into the line of the pirate's wingmen. Despite brutal evasive actions the haze of cannon fire blasted his shields and smashed into the hull. Inside, Tre was thrown and jostled in his seat.

But just as he was reaching for the ejector bar one of the Wolfhounds simply exploded, and the other four split and thrustered off in different directions.

It was a transport, Albatross class, and it had just fallen out of the lane nearby and its cannons were belching a storm of fire at the pirates. Two more Hounds were engulfed in flame before the last two were able to cruise into the distance, not even bothering to bring the escape pods of their comrades with them.

Tre turned down the music to a dull roar and opened a channel, "Thanks man, they had me toasted"

A gruff Irish voice popped cheerfully over the comms, "Perhaps, but you did hold your well there, mate. Join me on Leeds, maybe we can get ye some repairs and a stiff drink, eh?

--------------------

Mink Whipperwill slid into the booth across from Tre, handing him a rich dark ale and taking one for himsel. The bar was dark and the air was lightly permeated with the smell of cigarettes, a small cover band played quietly in one corner.

Sipping the brew thoughtfully Mink eyed the pilot thoughtfully. "So, Jakobe, what brings ye all the way out to Bretonia. Yer obviously not a local, hahar."

Tre smiled nonchalantly and leaned back in his chair, "Ye man, I just do a little of this and that. I got that itch, ya know?"

The older Irishman burst into uprorious laughter and downed a long swig of ale, "Havent we all! But first we are gonna need to get you back into a ship. That holey piece of scrap on the pad wont do.."

Eying his beer the dark man mumbled, "I just need a job or three for the repairs. Wont be too bad"

Mink shook his head and stroked a thick red beard, "Have ye ever thought of getting a good organization behind you? There's something to be said for having someone else foot the bills."

Tre immidiately dismissed the thought, "Nah, I got this... authority problem."

Mink leaned close as though what he were saying were some sort of secret, "Not all organizations are about authority. I wasnt always a lowly trader, I once helped reform an entire organization. Just the kind of place you may be looking for."

"Tell, me mate; ever heard of the Independant Miners Guild?"

Primary Information:

Name: Jakobe (Tre) Dailey III
Age: 32
Citizenship: Liberty Citizen

Biography: Jakobe's family has a colorfully dull history. Being a family of dark-skinned people the Daileys are something of a rarity in the Sirius sector. He was born into a family that was comfortably middle class. A rough rebel and troublemaker, Jakobe gave his family endless trouble as a teenager. Surfing through mandatory schooling on his intuition and given knowledge. With no drive towards higher learning, Jakobe ran with all of the money his parents had planned to spend on it. He learned to fly hitching rides and working part time on trade ships, finding that he was quite skilled at piloting ships of many types.

Jakobe slowly raised money in this way. Living off the charity of others, picking up odd jobs, sleeping in cargo bays and on trade craft. He raised his money with a single-minded doggedness of owning his own ship one day. He also aquired a trademark of blasting crude bassy music while piloting, especially during fights.

By the time his dream came true, Jakobe (or Tre, as many knew him as) had been living his transient life for over a decade, and he walked into a shipdealer on Philadelphia and bought a second-hand Starblazer, with adverage shielding and dated weapons systems. Blowing his entire life's savings on the creaky, shaky craft.

There have been several people who questioned why Tre didn't get a ship the easy way, by joining the Liberty Navy, or even the LPI. Truthfully the answer is simple. The same authority issue that made him walk away from his parents a decade and a half ago, and a keen drive for adventure and exploration.

***Incoming Transmission from Cortez, Planet Curacao, "Wild Goose" Sanatorium***

To: IMG Guildmasters
From: Ertran Rogozinsky
Subject: Application for return to IMG Defence Division

Greetings!
Well... I do not like too much talking, so go straight to the point.
As you probably know, wounds during the battle with Outcasts in the Tau-37 forced me to resign from service in Defence Division. After a year of convalescence I have recovered my full efficiency and I am ready to return to the Taus. If my services can still be useful for the guild, I am ready at any moment to get my Raven's Talon and go to the Java Station.

Regards,
Ertran Rogozinsky

P.S.
Curacao may be beatiful place, but it's so boring here...

Primary Information:

Name: Frank Campbell
Age: 30
Citizenship: Bretonia

Biography:
Frank Campbell was born on the planet New London, to a middle class family who made a living as transport pilots hauling goods between the systems of Bretonia and beyond. For a time, it was enough, the family lived a comfortable life, despite periods of hardships. When Frank struck out on his own, first as a Freelancer flying around doing odd jobs in his Starflier, he soon began working for BMM as a escort pilot. But even as a escort pilot Frank saw much of the corruption within BMM. The employment wouldn'€™t last. As in a pirate ambush Frank'€™s ship, a Eagle very heavy fighter, was heavily damaged and disabled, left for dead, and Frank would have died, if not for a passing IMG patrol. BMM had decided that a single escort pilot wasn'€™t enough of a concern to spend the resources needed for a S&R. That was the last straw. Frank resigned from BMM, after of course, showing them he was alive.

He'€™s been a freelancer again ever since, but hopefully that will change.

Secondary Information:

Outline the Independent Miners Guild goals: The Guild'€™s goal is to provide a safe and healthy environment for miners and affiliates to work their trade in without pressure from the Houses and their corrupt corporations. To give a better alternative for small time miners who would otherwise be forced out of business or be forced to accept a corporate leash in order to continue to pry their trade.

What can you contribute while inside the Guild ? I can help defend the Guilds' interests, by guarding convoys, bases or mining operations, or to drive out pirates or other scum who would prey on the common miners.

Which are your personal reasons for joining the Guild ? Also, which IMG Department would you like to be part of ?

I am'€¦ jaded, with the corporations within the Houses. Too much exploitation of the common workers, while the top strata of society grows more and more rich the poor gets less and less of the benefits of society. And also to repay a debt which I owed to IMG from when a passing patrol helped me, years back. I also want to choose another option, and a chance for a fresh start. And I want to help defend it. I would like to be a part of the Defense department.

Primary Information:

Name: Martin Ross
Age: 29
Citizenship: Citizen of Bretonia

Biography:
Even if Martin's childhood can't be described as entirely dull, having been born to a caring family, at some point of his life he realised the job of a stationary white-collar worker isn't really what he'd like to do in the future. Ross' parents weren't that happy with his decision, especially after the disturbing news of the war from the Tau Systems, but finally, as it turned out, patience brought results he was praying for.
It's been 10 years since Martin's first flight. His priorities have changed since then, obviously - he's trying to raise his own family with his wife, Veronica, and that's basically why he's applying for a job in IMG. He's been into trading for years, and now, that his former employers are pulling out from the ship hull panels commerce in Bretonia (which has just been closed, after SHP became contraband) he was left unemployed and unpaid for his recent services. After having to outrun pirates during his 'independence', Martin realised he has to look for a proper job. That's why he's here.

Secondary Information:

Outline the Independent Miners Guild goals: Providing work for those in need, discovering new planetary systems, mining and protecting the workforce's laws. That's basically what IMG looks like from my point of view - a hard-working company, which cares about their employees.

What can you contribute while inside the Guild ? Even if my experience isn't that big, I'm going to put all of it at stake. I'm a friendly, quick-learning and respectful person, hoping to be a valuable part of the Independent Miners Guild.

Which are your personal reasons for joining the Guild ? Also, which IMG Department would you like to be part of ? My reasons for joining the Guild are simple. IMG looks like the only way to ensure both my family's future and our safety. And, since I've done some business with the IMG, I'm sure it's exactly what I want to do. Having bought an IMG Transporter, the Atlas vessel named CSc, it is the Trade Department I'd love to become part of.

Name: Eddie LaCrosse
Age: 30
Citizenship: Bretonian, born on Cambridge

Biography:
Father: Nathan LaCrosse, Bretonian Diplomatic Corps. Retired
Mother: Miranda LaCrosse, Decreased, in 811 AS
University of Cambridge 806 AS - 811 AS Sociology /Psychology (incomplete, studies aborted due to death of mother)
Since 811 AS part-time Freelancer, Mercenary, Racer, Trader and Miner... or you may call it Space jockey.
After my mother died my father lied about the circumstances of her death to me. I did know that for instance because I know a diplomatic lie from him since I was six. I couldn't bare it any more and went in my Starflyer to space never to return to my fathers estate on Cambridge. Until last year my father hired me unknown to me for a passengers trip to New London he told me that he was displeased of me not joining the Bretonia Armed Forces and he got in counter the question again how my mother died. Bad move from him he lied again to me ... nearly pushed him out of the Airlock of my ship. (Of course I didn't, but it was close) I will not look back. I'm done with him for good.

Secondary Information:

Outline the Independent Miners Guild goals:
Providing fair paid work for members under best conditions possibles. Keeping mining operations by providing such optimal conditions on high standards produces dedicated workers that will provide optimal work to the guild, regardless if they are mining, transporting, exploring or protecting.
In trying to maintain peaceful retaliation to the houses the Guild provides good selling prices and is in the position to give the workers best possible payment for their work.
In maintaining not only mining operations but transport to bases of need to the buyers and exploring new mine able regions of Sirius, building bases to secure the claims the Independent miners Guild has become the 1st to ask if a raw material not available within house space is providable by the IMG. The future goals in my opinion if to maintain this trend (as well as the other things mentioned above) or expand if possible opportunity arise to secure the position of the Independent Miners Guild.

What can you contribute while inside the Guild ?
I have experience of mining, shipping, and fighting. I might be not the best in each aspect, but till now every client of my freelancing career was satisfied with the end results I provided. For me security was always important, transporting goods I was never the fastest but never dropped cargo for pirates till now. In mining I was as never the best and experienced miner, but I do the job with the same dedication all miners do when on work. On protection till now (and hopefully never will) lost a clients ship to a opposing faction.

Which are your personal reasons for joining the Guild ? Also, which IMG Department would you like to be part of ?
Since the row with my father I have been thinking a lot what to make out of my life. since I have flown many missions for the IMG as Freelancer and never got screwed, misinformed and paid fair for missions. I have high respect in the Independent Mining Guilds abilities for that. So to become more focused on my own life's goals it is obvious for me that the IMG is the best place to become employed. Fair hard work for fair pay with no lies when I simply put it straight.
I'm working best where I'm either needed or where I can develop and improve my skills. (If this needs some adjustments of my reputation to fraction I'm now unfriendly with, then I will work of my bad reputation to provide guild a good maintenance to guild customers and treaties.
If there is mining to be done, I do mine where I am send to.
If there is shipping to be done, I will pick-up the Commodities and deliver it to the the customers destination place
If there is protection needed somewhere. I will cover mining operations or shippers from attacks.
I recently bought me a Hegemon - DU5-7Y Civilian Mining Ship outfitted for mining. I'm able to sell my ship and buy any ship needed for each division am applying for or I'm send to, so I leave this matter in the Guild masters hands where to place me best. With a little bit help to get accustomed by a senior worker of the division I will be placed on, I will shortly provide results that will be up to the standards of the guild in no time. (Haven't I said already, that I'm a quick learner?)
Best wishes

Primary Information:

Name: Flynn Rothman
Age: 23
Citizenship: Rheinland
Callsign: Hellhound

Biography: My father spent most of his life as a low level generator tech working for the Rheinland military. I was born on Bonn Station and spent the next 15 years hopping from station to station following my dad around as contracts came up. At the age of 8 my mother left, I guess she just couldn'€™t handle the stress of constantly going from place to place. At the age of 17, I took an apprentice tech position aboard Freistadt Station fixing anything and everything'€¦ following my dad around all those years I'€™d learned a thing or two. This all changed for me last year when a flight to Faulkland Base my father was on was attacked by some pirates in an attempt to collect on IMG bounties. He made it safely to Faulkland Base, but since then I'€™ve endeavored to join the IMG ranks in a more combative roll. Innocent and good men are being attacked every day and I want to help put a stop to it. The IMG has taken good care of me and I'€™d like a chance to repay the favor.

Secondary Information:

Outline the Independent Miners Guild goals:
- My take of the IMG purpose has always been that the IMG is more interested in the well being of its employees and affiliates than it is worried about the money made. The IMG is not so much interested in human rights as human dignity, and I very much respect that.

What can you contribute while inside the Guild?
- I have some experience in trading (A friend of mine is a Titanic pilot with Interspace Commerce) but mostly I think that I will be a valuable asset in defending IMG personnel against attack and piracy. Someday, maybe soon, I hope to pilot an Argus that I might have that much larger of a boot to put to the enemies'€™ backside.
Also, which IMG Department would you like to be part of ?
-Paramilitary/defense force
