I suggest trying the semi-auto snipers with iron/holo sights....they are beast at both long/mid and short range. And you can set up that nice mobile spawn near key positions.

I think it's more a problem of the 1-hit-kill bug, where you don't actually get a damage notifier until you're dead. Not exactly fun. Hopefully gets better with release.

Actually, though, I tried the SKS and it didn't do too hot. Those two stock rifles really have a great medium between damage and firing speed. SKS has too low of a velocity to be effective outside of medium range.
I'll say, though, I can't wait for Hardcore. I hate kill cams. They make no sense to me.:(
