I say give it cruiser turrets and reduce its hull, so it has slightly stronger defences, but doesnt take so long to kill.

You can already easily kill a Barge with two VHFs, giving it Cruiser turrets wouldn't help much. It's not supposed to be able to defend itself. It shouldn't fly alone at all, since it's such a large ship.

And in general, I wouldn't make it available for all. I think there are currently enough of them.

You can kill a barge with a LF if you have enough time, but itl take forever! I think itd be more fun for both sides if the barge had something to do while being shot, and the fighter didnt have to keep EKing around it shooting for so long.

RE: The future of the barge? - [FC]Flox - 12-02-2012

I say put em back up for sale, but like ElekTek said, with a BS scanner and the CAU VIII

even if the sale is temporary, i want one, *Coughs* NEEED ONE!!!! @_@

RE: The future of the barge? - Hone - 12-02-2012

Why should they come with a BS scanner and cap 8? If you want them to be more expensive, just raise their price.

RE: The future of the barge? - [FC]Flox - 12-02-2012

Alright then forget the BS Scanner and CAUVII
Just raise the price tag to 2bil.

RE: The future of the barge? - NightCrawler - 12-02-2012

kill the barge and make a open 10k transport

RE: The future of the barge? - [FC]Flox - 12-02-2012

NOooOooOOooooooOOoooOOOOOo.
10k transport is no good, because it would have to be nerfed.
so it would be the same thing.

But the Barge, its so sexy, innocent, and majestic @_@

You know what, i dont know anything.
all im saying is

add some longer range turrets.
set the price tag to 2bil
open up the sale for the barge for a while.

What about rule 6? How are you going to quit? I mean using F1 near people is prohibited and since you just can't fly away it's going to cause trouble...

Remove it, rebalance the largest transports at the 10K range, one for each house. Refocus trading en masse back onto tradelanes.

The more you remove the highest cargo vehicles from the lanes, the less interaction. Jumping barges is a no interaction machine unless the pirates find them or they're at the coordinates.

IMO, the RP aspect is "The house traders realized that the barge was a competitor. What the largest transports around Sirius could offer was a fraction of what the mighty boat could do. With jump drive technology invested in moving the massive barge to any point in Sirius, profit was being killed. This gave way to the next innovation in transport ship design. Newer, higher cargo transport ships were put into production. Though much smaller than the barge itself, they suffered for the increased capacity in becoming nearly immobile. However, they were still able to utilize the trade lane network, while doubling the quantity of cargo being sent."

Or something. I'd like to see a focus on the largest cargo ships being able to fly down lanes and get pirated.

Or I could get behind the long idea above (Gorvas) In that the barge becomes a detriment to the point that the profit isn't exactly existent. More of a mobile load off point. Fill it with resources, jump it, unload it. Its a bank, if you will.
