Subject: Combat & Status Report

Williams here,

I was patrolling Colorado when I got a distress call from Fleet Commander Dale, two members of the Xeno Alliance were passing by in <strike>Xeno Battleships</strike> Armored Transports so I asked for their support, the complied. Took us some time to get to California, yet we made it, destroyed a Rogue Gunboat and a Werewolf. The fight had gotten split up and Fleet Commander Dale had been dueling a navy eagle near Riverside, we went in to help, their reinforcements arrived soon after that. The Fleet Commander was being targeted after the Xenos were destroyed, he was heavily damaged. I had minor damages yet my comm. were taken out, had to leave behind the commander in order to get some support.

Upon reaching Ouray, there weren't any Legionnaire pilots around, not to mention any mechanics to tend the ship, so I borrowed the Yosemite and headed for the Commander, upon reaching him, activated the repair systems, then ran for my life. Second time I've tried to pilot a repairship, good thing the VI was online and helped me with the repair systems. But in the end, when I had almost made it back to base, a nova destroyed the vessel, luckily commander dale was still around so he picked me up and docked on Ouray.

Guess it's my fault we lost the Yosemite, at least the Fleet Commander got away, and my Prosecutor is still intact.

Williams out.

Dale speaking.

Major Williams, I'd like to personally thank you for saving my life. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be here now.

And I did indeed say 'Major'. The High Command has decided to offer you the Phoenix's Tears Medal, for saving my ass back there, along with a promotion to the rank of Major. You've proven yourself worthy again and again.
Let the drinks flow, you're paying tonight.

And as a gift from the Task Force Warhammer, to show you that they're still out there kicking ass, here are some treats, straight from Libertine's guncam, offered to you by none other than Fleet Admiral Chiwetel Steele, making big cracks in Hale's cookie jar. Made from Hellfire.

Rest assured, bravery won't go unnoticed.

Let Hellfire Descend.
Dale out.

~~~~DECRYPTION COMPLETE~~~~
Major Douglas here. Earlier this evening the Flametongue and her sister ship Icebrand were patrolling New York when I, commanding the Flametongue, came across a trio of capital class vessels in Manhattan orbit. Reinforcements arrived in the form of the gunboat Chainsaw and the repair ship Lake Crescent. The three Inquisitors ripped and tore, and before long all three hostiles were gone, with no losses on our side. The Lake Crescent was barely even necessary, as we drew very few nanobots from it throughout the battle. Immediately after we had finished mopping up the Navy's fighter support, a hostile gunboat dropped out of a trade lane. As soon as it saw us, it fled, hiding in Manhattan's moors. With no more targets in range, all Legion ships RTB'd. End report.
Major Williams here,
The report had to wait a bit, was enjoying some drinks with the men along with some Xenos after a good victory near Manhattan, now for the report.
I was alone patrolling New York when I got a distress call from Legion forces in Colorado, I quickly changed my course and risked the lanes to get there. Our forces were fighting a rheinland cruiser, although I couldn't get much electronic data due to immense ionic interference. I just saw the Emperor left standing against the cruiser when the ionic interference passed, then engaged. Was tough but we brought it down since it was already damaged.
Afterwards, we RV'd with a few more Legionnaires and some Xenos and headed for New York, was going to try out sneaking near Manhattan, yet we estimated our forces were enough to combat the current battle group tasked as the Manhattan Defense Grid. I can't really explain the details, don't need to either, yet the kill count was around two cruisers and a fighter from the secondary fleet. And even some battleships from the ''tertiary'' fleet. All in the guncam data. Also we have some prisoners that might be useful in negotiations with the Primary fleet, heh, all in the guncam data. They're waiting to be picked up from Ouray.
Williams out.
Subject: Combat & Status Report
Williams here,
Would've been a perfect patrol if it had not been for a single loss..*sigh*, anyhow. Was on patrol with Fleet Captain Carse in New York, we came across a navy Guardian, Captain Carse engaged him and didn't request any assistance, so I headed to Rochester as there was some chatter on the system channels about some navy. I had just got there when a naval officer had destroyed a corsair and cruised off, couldn't catch him. Yet there was an outcast spatial, made quick work of it then returned to Captain Carse, he was badly damaged yet didn't want any assistance. Might have been bad judgement on his part as the Guardian managed to tear the Fleet Captain's ship apart in the end and even tractor-ed his pod, I engaged without thinking. Took some hits yet managed to destroy the already damaged Guardian, got both the pods and left them on Ouray, then went back to New York.
Another engagement near Rochester again, this time another secondary fleet guardian as well as a hunter gunship, they seemed to be after a pirate in a Roc class bomber. I asked for the pirate's help, as well as another bomber, a xeno came to assist as well. Made quick work of the gunship, yet the navy officer had already bugged off way before. I gave the pirate a chance to live due to his aid with the hunter, seemed to be wise and took it by leaving the area.
Continued my patrol to Colorado, Ontario and then California. The Xeno bomber tagged along, we used the gate to jump to New York only to find two assault battlecruisers waiting for us. We bought some time by disrupting them from a range, yet one of them bugged out, the other engaged us even though a primary fleet officer was on the scene and had told him to stop. Laughable. Continuing, luckily the Libertine was at that time in system and was close enough to offer assistance, destroying the lone battlecruiser.
The primary fleet officer in a guardian went for the xeno gunboat, I covered him long enough for him to run and then engaged the Guardian myself. Took a while yet it was really a one sided match and used my ship's blade to tear the guardian apart in the end.
Efficient and clean, Williams out.
Fleet Commander Kinnaird here. I've been bogged down with paperwork lately but today I got to take my Prosecutor for a spin around Liberty. Let's just say I was acting as a flotilla rearguard for the relocation orders.
Now, I wasn't in the mood for mucking around, so I went for a lightning flyby of the Newark perimeter. I found a pair of Navy fighters idling there, as well as a number of Freelancer bystanders. I crossed my fingers and dived into the fray, hoping that the Navy wasn't suddenly about to acquire some extra hired guns.
Those Navy boys certainly weren't expecting me. *[1]
I jumped on the fighter called Dougas, but he bolted for the Newark docks. *[2]
The other fighter, LN-KnowYourEnemy, told me to "knock off".
I knocked him off. *[3]
That Dougas guy emerged and started firing. He almost took me by surprise, but he was extremely clumsy. He brought some Freelancer buddy who was about as mute as himself. *[4]
What a funny guy, right? Well I wasn't joking. *[5]
I slowly quartered his buddy, JazzCat, but he ran at the last moment. *[6]
A Secondary Fleet LABC arrived at that moment, the LNS-Douglas. I'm sure it's a ship we've wrecked before. Fleet Commander Dale grouped up with me at that point, and we locked on to the Navy Upholder that was with the Battlecruiser. Strike one George.Orwell, courtesy of Guy Dale. *[7]
At that point the two of us split up. LNS reinforcements were likely inbound and we were running out of time. Fleet Com. Dale went to recon the California system while I returned to Ouray to restock. Dale got no readings, while I picked up multiple bogeys on Long Range Scanners and went to investigate. I found a pair of Navy ships, a Guardian (LDF-Mobius.1) and a Gunboat (LDF-TangSeng), ripping up a Xenos Starflier Squadron in the Copperton field.
I could not let this injustice continue, and engaged the Navy ships. *[8]
Strangely, the Gunboat ran off, leaving the fighter to my tender mercies. Sadly for him, I was not merciful today. *[9]
Fleet Commander Dale reported no major contacts in Ontario, either, and helped me sweep Colorado for the remaining Gunboat, but it was to no avail. I called for a general RTB and we headed back to Vespucci.
All in all, a good result. I scored three fighter kills, and Fleet Commander Dale got one too, and my fighter barely has any scratches. For my efforts, I have been awarded the Purifying Flame.
A recent deal with the Lane Hackers has secured the Legion some vital intelligence / reconnaisance data on the Virginia system, known to be the headquarters of the Liberty Navy.
This report is classified, and is only available to Fleet Captains and above.
Part 1:
' Wrote:...hack.initiated...decryption.in.progress...
...Nicole.Hunter.recognized...transmission.encrypted...
...uploading.data...
MISSION 8 (Hellfire Legion's copy of the report)
Reconnoitre the Virginia system. Log all contacts and installations. Provide analysis of defensive capabilities and potential vulnerabilities.
Phase 1: Sectors A-D
Summary: During the first phase of reconnaissance in Virginia, using search pattern Epsilon, two planets, one gas giant (P1) and one possibly habitable planet (P2) surrounded by a minefield, were discovered. Besides the planets, a dense particle cloud in sectors A-D/6-7 containing a jumphole to Kansas system surrounded by a minefield and ice field in sectors A-C/1-3 containing a jumphole to California system, were found. Both jumpholes were heavily guarded by three battle-cruisers in total. No other hostile contacts or installations were encountered.
[Image: th_Mission8Phase1SearchPatternEpsilon.jpg] [Image: th_Mission8Phase1CompletedSurvey.jpg]
Detailed report: According to our records the only known jumphole leading to Virginia was located in Kansas system. For that reason I decided to take additional reserves of Hi-Fuel, as the jumphole is on the far side of the system. After jumping to Virginia I found myself in the dense particle cloud. Moreover, the jumphole was surrounded by a minefield. The only exit from the minefield was guarded by a heavily armed battle-cruiser. I disabled all systems of my ship and slowly drifted in the direction of the minefield's exit. Due to density of the particle cloud and small electronic shadow of my ship I was able to sneak by the battle-cruiser. When I got to a safe distance I decided to use search pattern Epsilon consisting from thirteen waypoints to scout sectors A-D. In the vicinity of first waypoint I found a gas giant, probably consisting of helium and hydrogen, but my ship was not capable of a more detailed survey. No installations in the orbit were found. At waypoint six I found possibly habitable planet surrounded by a minefield. Since, both, the planet and the minefield, lied in sectors D-F, I decided to postpone further investigation. Around tenth waypoint I entered an ice field, in the centre of which I found a jumphole guarded by two battle-cruisers. I decided not to risk sneaking by them and sent only an automatic probe to retrieve information where the jumphole leads to. To my great astonishment the probe returned coordinates in California. After I had returned to Magellan through Kansas I confirmed the readings from the probe. I refuelled my ship and prepared for the next stage of the mission.
MISSION 8 (Hellfire Legion's copy of the report)
Reconnoitre the Virginia system. Log all contacts and installations. Provide analysis of defensive capabilities and potential vulnerabilities.
Phase 2: Sectors E-H
Summary: During the second phase of reconnaissance in Virginia, using search pattern Pi, two additional planets, one barren but possibly habitable planet with a breathable atmosphere (P3) orbited by a military base (B2) and four weapon platforms, and one volcanic world most likely unsuitable for terraforming (P4), were discovered. Besides the planets, a dense dark matter cloud in sectors F-G/1-3 containing an installation built around unidentified electromagnetic anomaly, possibly a research station (B1) was found. Further investigation of the surroundings of the planet discovered in first phase of the mission (P2) allowed to reveal a large military installation orbiting the planet, most likely a shipyard (B3). The only way to the planet and the shipyard leads through a narrow passage in the minefield, which is guarded by ten weapon platforms and four battle-cruisers. Besides these installations, a jumpgate leading to Texas system (JG), guarded by a battleship (B4) and two battle-cruisers, is located at sector E/2-3. These three major installations, the jumpgate (JG), military base (B2) and shipyard (B3) are connected by a fully operational trade lane network. During the mission distant contact with two additional hostile vessels belonging to Liberty Navy occurred, most likely fighters. Sectors E-F/2-7 were also patrolled by an unidentified battleship. Due to a low-profile character of the mission close contact was avoided.
[Image: th_Mission8Phase2SearchPatternPi.jpg] [Image: th_Mission8Phase2CompletedSurvey.jpg]
Detailed report: Using information gathered during the first phase of the mission I sneaked by to the sector D/1, where I initiated search pattern Pi, consisting of nine waypoints. Before reaching waypoint two I entered a black matter cloud and my sensory range seriously declined. Despite this, shortly after reaching the waypoint I received strange readings. I decided to investigate. These readings came from an electromagnetic anomaly located within the cloud. Upon further investigation I discovered a whole research complex (B1) built around this anomaly. Since my ship was not outfitted to collect scientific data, I only took preliminary readings of the base and the anomaly. In the midway between waypoint two and three I encountered a barren planet (P3). I decided, however, that I will investigate it closer in the midway between waypoint four and five. Suddenly, a Liberty Navy officer hailed me using system-wide transmission and ordered me to identify myself. I introduced myself as Lt. Hunter performing patrol duty and sent the officer coordinates at the opposite side of the system. This bought me enough time to discover another volcanic planet (P4) in sector H/8 and quickly advance to waypoint five. On my way there I investigated more closely previously discovered planet (P3) and learned that it has breathable atmosphere and is orbited by an unidentified military station (B2) and four weapon platforms. I took only distant readings of the installations and quickly disappeared in the dark matter cloud, because by that time Navy realised that I am not at the coordinates I've sent them. They started to look for me. I could no longer pretend an officer, therefore I decided to lure them into the dark matter cloud. I positioned my ship at the edge of the dark matter cloud and waited for them to show up. When they got a faint reading of my ship and sounded the system-wide alarm, I quickly disappeared, effectively luring every ship present in the system into the dark matter cloud. This allowed me to continue scouting along waypoints six, seven and eight uninterrupted, during which I found a fully operational trade lane network connecting military base (B2) and the planet surrounded by a minefield (P2), which was discovered in the previous phase of the mission. Narrow passage leading to the planet was heavily guarded by multiple weapon platforms and battle-cruisers. I took only distant shots of the planet and the shipyard (B3) orbiting it. No presence of a dock-ring was confirmed. Since trying to get through the passage would be a suicide even if there was no system-wide alarm, I decided to continue to the last ninth waypoint, where I found a jumpgate guarded by a battleship (B4) and two battle-cruisers. I used a hole in the jumpgate security program and planted a trojan that gave me coordinates of the end-gate, which proved our suspicions about the nature of the recently discovered mine field in Texas system. Since all the objectives of the mission were completed, I returned to base by the usual route through Kansas. Later on I also investigated the minefield in Texas and learnt that its entrance is guarded by another battle-cruiser. I wish to underline that during the mission no hostile ship was able to take even incomplete scan of my ship. Liberty Navy possess no information about who and why infiltrated their system, or even if their system was infiltrated. For all it matters, I could have been just an officer with not updated IFF transponder, as it happens often in the secondary fleet. I attach the full transcription of communication logs for review.
Analysis: Virginia system can be accessed either by a jumphole in Kansas, by a jumphole in California or by jumpgate in Texas. Entrance from Texas has the heaviest protection including minefield and battle-cruiser on the Texas side and a battleship and two battle-cruisers on the Virginia side. Infiltration through this entrance is simply impossible. Entrance from California is guarded by two battle-cruisers on the Virginia side. Any unauthorized ship jumping from California will be instantly destroyed. Low profile infiltration using this entrance is also impossible, however, two bomber wings supported by several gunships could be able to force their way in taking heavy losses. Use of this entrance is highly discouraged. The least protected entrance lies in Kansas. Although, the jumphole is located inside a minefield with the only exit being guarded by a single battle-cruiser, a dense particle cloud surrounding the jumphole could be used as protection from hostile scanners. Small ships might be able to sneak by the battle-cruiser and maintain low profile. Bigger ships such as bombers, gunships or transport won't be able to get past the battle-cruiser undetected. The only alternative would be to use utility ships and slowly dig own tunnel in the minefield. However, such operation doesn't seem to be viable solution for the Lane Hackers. Despite this, the details of this report could be sold to a different entity, both interested in and capable of such operation, for example Hellfire Legion. Sectors A-D, unlike E-H, are patrolled rarely and there is low danger of being exposed there. Sectors E-H should be avoided at all costs, due to abundant military installations and numerous patrols.
Subject: Combat & Status Report
Greetings My Friends, Pilot First Class Epps here.
I have conducted a successful mission today with Grand Admiral Sera. We met up at the California Jump Gate in Magellan, and proceeded into California, hoping to find some worthy adversaries but sadly , did not find any. We moved on to the New York System , first heading for West Point ,which was awfully empty, then moving on to Manhattan. Where a Considerable crowd was gathered. Our Grand Admiral talked to two Navy Pilots Present, one of which was a coward, the other agreed to a Duel with our Mighty Admiral , but as expected , the Navy Pilot Lost. The Admiral then Returned to the base while i proceeded to the California System , trying to find a lone carrier that had been spotted in the System. I found this Carrier at the Magellan Gate, and tried to pin him there, but he Blew all of his Countermeasures and ran from me, he feared the Arrival of the Libertine. Admiral Sera returned to the scene in the Libertine as i chased down the Carrier, but i was unable to pin him due to his excessive Countermeasure use. I chased the Carrier to the Alberta Jumphole in Ontario before Admiral Sera called off the chase. We then returned to Base and called this mission a Successful one.
