'Well, if I were to guess,' Pete began cautiously, 'it was because they didn't treat you, this office or this ship with the respect you expect recruits to give when entering your office. The respect, the care, or the honesty expected from anybody applying to fight for such a cause.
'As for why I am different? Well. I am a man of multiple skills, and a man who understands the sort of attitude required when applying to fight under a banner.'

Mendel took a spot beside the door, and pointed at Pete.
"You come with me!" He ordered, motioning for two marines to step into the room, a pair of shotguns leveled at the recruit.
"I have heard rumours that there is a spy attempting to infiltrate the Coalition in this batch of recruits, Commissar Egg-Foo-yuk... I suggest you take caution and take all needed measures to ensure our nation's security."
He turned to the marines, "Bring me the chair," he ordered, "and strap this one into it when it arrives!"
Snarling he tossed his cigarette on the deck and ground it out with his heel, looking at the other recruits. "No one leaves until I have found the Spy!"

Vladimir was startled. A spy? Well such things would happen every now and then. However Vladimir was sure in his capabilities of finding a spy in his midst. As a precaution, he had the two marines hold the recruit to the chair while he lacquered the duct-tape on to hold him squarely in place.
"Now, Mendal is no fool. He must know something is up. So..."
He kicked the chair over.
"Start talking! Convince me you are not a spy!"

He whistled a tuneless tune as he reached into his table drawer once more. He picked up a small scalpel.
"Without proper training, this wielder of this knife becomes a danger to others. With proper training, he becomes a life saver. Do you think I have gone through the proper training?"
He stabbed the knife into the recruits hand, grinning at the pain he was inflicting.
"It's funny you should mention Liberty, since we have made great many advances there for Galactic Socialism. Explain such a victory we have had."

Mendel flipped through his files, as Pete was secured to a barren metal chair, his shirt ripped open and electrodes attached to his chest and extremities.
Satisfied that the man was going nowhere, and that the lie detector was working, Mendel reached out to thumb a button, watching as electric current was passed through the man's body, it didn't matter who you where, that much electricity would make any man scream in pain.
Nodding again, Mendel held up a closed file.
"Who is Ronon Dex?" He asked, his face hard and unsmiling.

Finally, he opened them, and sighed.
