Not real one ofc. Made from metal, but quite soft one so it cant be used in combat. Real katana is freaking expencive.
I see that you have one, Dima.

Katanas are much harder to make, and if the punishment in this vid continued much longer, that blade would have shattered. They are great weapons, but not very durable. I'd still go for the longsword, if only for the added range (which was not used effectively in this demonstration) and ability to use the damn thing as a spear if need be, which transfers speed into damage rather then brute force.

The katana can only be used effectively for slashing. Stabbing with a curved blade against an armored opponent will break it fast.

Longsword is much cooler because it is much more versatile. Two edges and straight blade, as well as a real cross guard instead of that tiny little thingy. Katanas, for me at least, look like (dangerous but beautiful) toys. Longswords are tools in comparison.

There's no real way to match the two. They're completely different animals. The Katana built around the idea of not getting hit, while being able to deliver killing slashes yourself, while the longsword was much more of a battering ram of a sword. It's weilders clad in full plate, and not particularly mobile, and blows would be traded and deflected by the blades as well as the armour. A katana that hit a longsword would be wrecked (as seen in the demo).

FYI, plate armour sword fights irl were v unglamorous affairs. basically wrestling matches. armour is a lot better than most people think, and swords are a lot worse (which is why no one really used them in the main). but yeah imagine two guys holding their swords by the blade, trying to trip the other guy over with it, that's pretty much how it went down.

Yeah, if you're going up against someone in plate, get a mace.

Longsword. Are better than katanas and look better too. (Not those boring ones that were simply crosses; the cross-guard and pommel need to look neat.)

Real men wield machetes
