As to the point about not making it a job....keeping a player base supplied is easy? Running a faction?

And about it being unfriendly to noobs... why should a noob walk in and get a rare ship in a few days? The working toward something is one of the best parts of playing the game, its what keeps people here. Plus, since mining, nothing is expensive, you can make enough for a battleship and armor in a few days.

I fully agree with your statement.
While I don't believe in your suggestion fully, i do believe we need an economic overhaul as Kaz suggested.

It is a roundabout way of explaining things, "rp rarity". Doesn't really give impression of which prices you really want. Key prices are: cost of 5ker, cruiser, battleship, cau8. Everything under cruiser is darn cheap anyway. And if you double price of BS, while it will decrease quantity of them, it will also make sure that absolute majority of them are lulwuts. Well, not really, whoever wanted to have BS already has one. Simple price-bump won't change amount of ships in-game at this point.
Bottom line: price changes only work on "new" ships, they won't have any noticable effect at battleships for example.

Different idea; add new unique ships to the mod, and give them out as "roleplay reward", while keeping them rare/unique.

And may it be just copies of existing ships with only a few tiny changes.

Erm, wait. 3 billion battleship*0.25 = 750 millions, which's not much bigger than now. Taking in mind, that CAU8 will cost less than 250 millions, actual value of battleship will be lower than now. And for what? Making cheap fighters even cheaper?

RE: 2 interconnected ideas - Altejago - 08-04-2013

Seems like a legit idea.

I support this.

Commodity prices would be lower too, so you'd make less profit. That would make earning 750 million credits much harder.

Having more people working on things like this would be a change I would like to see, if people were not so 'scared' I suppose is a word to go about it that they will be turned down and 500 million credits lost, encourage an idea like this.

Of course require the player to gather all the necessary data/model themselves so the admins merely need to look over it and either accept or deny, no need to give the Devs even 'more' work on an idea like this.

RE: 2 interconnected ideas - lIceColon - 08-04-2013

I have an EVEN BETTER idea than the everything value * 0.3 suggestion.
currently the money system is "sirius credits", but nobody ever pays "1 sirius credits" or "12 sirius credits".
so we instead multiply everything by x10^-3 (if my math is correct which it probably isn't) and make the unit "thousand sirius credits". this way you have to have 200bil (2000bil?) in order to exceed the money limit. And then things can be uber expensive.

And a credits buff on everything will do.. what exactly?

That sounds rather strange to do, perhaps you could explain your idea of how this would work a bit better?
