You could use fast-docking until this thing gets fixed.
I prefer for the ship to be resized rather than putting the old shape back, it was more interesting but it wasn`t Discovery.

Resize would also mean a rebalance of stats.
You'd make it a VHF size again, since it's slim.
So I doubt the model will be changed.
Just sit in front of a mooring point and you'll be fine, yes.
