Because it's not like two bombers can take out a BB is it?

Actually, most of the times the Battleship will win unless the bombers are aces and the battleship is a total noob as far as flying goes. But the entire thing is that... you know what, I give up. Arguing with all the people that don't get the problem doesn't solve anything. Good luck with life, n00bl3t.

While a large part of engagement outcomes depend on skill, there is still a fair amount that depends on the equipment and ship used.

Which is what is usually the case considering it's the powertrading non-RP people who just bought their BB and don't have a clue how to aim with it.

I'm just saying that character stories are emphasised too much. If you feel threatened by my opinion of that feel free to sarcastically wish me luck and give up.

Well, I think the point isn't that bombers can take out a battleship, it's that, from a RP point of view, a battleships is MUCH more important than a couple of bombers, so people should explain what that battleship is, who captains it, where it came from, and what its job is.

That said, I think that all can be covered in a few paragraphs, without requiring a major piece of fiction.

Edit: Removed rogue apostrophe. Damn the apostrophes.

Heh, why would I feel threatened? Just saying, it's pointless when nobody's viewpoints are changing to argue over anything. I feel that people should earn their right to the battleship/battelcruiser by showing that they can, in fact, RP it out. The first step to that is showing they can write a story, which tells us how knowledgeable of certain things they are.

You don't see anyone bashing Yoda-[T] in his Advanced Battlestar, and he has no story whatsoever, and barely a forum presence (as far as I know). He's earned that by proving he can RP in game, which is a tad harder unless you RP with everyone (as people that have never met you in-game don't know if you can RP worth beans). Writing a story just publicly shows that you do, in fact, understand what's going on.

The point is people are asking for 3 pages of stuff, not just a couple of paragraphs.

It doesn't do anything for me I can write. I have friends who couldn't string together a paragraph whose in-game RP is just as good as mine.

Because you write stories. If you believe nobody's viewpoint's are changing, change yours. Writing stories doesn't show knowledge, it shows that you can write a story.

Yoda doesn't attack anything and hardly talks.

He attacked my LPI once... so yeah... =p

Actually bit off topic but I seem to recall him giving me a sum of money to "forget it happened".... interesting my LPI was taking bribes even before the LPI went corrupt.

Er..

I find stories to only be important for unconventional RP. Otherwise, there isn't much reason to have one unless you enjoy writing them. I mean, if you're flying around with your cap (at least give it an RP name?), most people aren't going to PM you and ask if you have a story for it. If you RP it well, people might ask out of curiosity (maybe the want to read it or something), and if you don't RP it, they just call you a capwhore.

I personally lack the time, patience, and creativity to write stories.

Not changing mine, you're not changing yours, let's agree to disagree, OK? Though it is true that you don't need to write anything to RP, it's a nice touch. And that second sentence... whether intended or not, that's an underhanded blow man.
