RE: Roleplaying a base takeover - Enkidu - 10-21-2013 Being brief here: Coming from an In-Depth Rp mod very similar to Disco where base conquest in a format similar to this not only worked but gave the community a lease of life, I'd say yes. No to the construction of POB's to hold it. What would be the point? Just do a rigid, structured event between the attacking and defending factions with balanced forces (with variations dependant on the rules both factions decide upon for the event). No to forcing IMG to follow through with this; let them do it the way they wish. Regardless, you have my 'Yes' vote. RE: Roleplaying a base takeover - Scumbag - 10-21-2013 Interesting, what mod is that? And i am in no way forcing anything on anyone, this is just a proposition for how we could do things. RE: Roleplaying a base takeover - djordje_petrovic - 10-23-2013 I think POB should be used for takeovers. I have proposed that and i see idea again , that is good . And that can be done via RP background and organized event. Pob takeover would mean that if direct owner of POB base admin codes lost his base via event , he is obliged to RP as client vassal of dominated faction . But in same time he can organize counter attack and seek aliies for new event like reqonquista try. This is not actually needed admin arbitering , just that idea and concept is acceptable to all interested sides. It had improved graphics, massive Rp emphasis, improved gameplay, greater visual fidelity. Even Rhineland was beautiful and every ship felt like an artwork. Dynamic cap weapons, inferior cap combat but better dogfighting, higher turn rates but similar response speeds, codenames that you had to construct by finding randomdrop components and stashing them together over time or pay billions for from collectors, fighters balanced from light fighter to interceptors to fast attack fighters to combat scouts through space superiority fighters, multi-role fighters and bombers, a mining system based around destructible asteroids. Buying a better ship took months of grinding instead of a day. Not sure if that sounds good or bad to you, but the server died a bit over a year ago due to playercount hitting the point where playing online was impossible (10 players at the same time was considered a server high). However, the base capture system would work easily on Disco's larger scale, with some firepower recalculation for Disco's alternative combat dynamic. RE: Roleplaying a base takeover - Scumbag - 10-23-2013 Thanks for the info Achille. And thank you to all those who voted in the poll. Now let's see what the devs think of this, if they find it worthy of their attention. Additionally, I only play Disco now (sorry, I veered mildly offtopic whilst answering that query). Ontopic: It's a good concept plan, just needs some revision. Kudos Scumbag for the thread creation. RE: Roleplaying a base takeover - aerelm - 10-23-2013 Such changes are already possible and do not even need a SRP. All you (The factions or groups representing the two sides of the conflict) have to do is file a player request in the violation reports subforum, it'll be included in the following week's admin vote, and if the justification is well thought out and the vote manages to pass, the changes get implemented right away.
IMG and LN did that for their FP4 takeover event, and the vote has already passed. It's just going through some "technical difficulties" before being actually implemented ingame. RE: Roleplaying a base takeover - Highland Laddie - 10-23-2013 I don't think the factions should have to pay 10 billion AND be responsible for building a PoB. The admins could just as easily set up and build the base in an instant and save everybody time/money/QQ. Well then, why not ask for a nice station defense model, maybe one of those from the npc missions? |
