Missile/Torpedo, subtarget. Fire and forget. That's true....but in another way, I fire....and always forget to do it xD RE: Ablative armor idea - Haste - 11-10-2013 Except that the OP's suggestion wouldn't work that way. One item shaped like a ship's hitbox with a set amount of hull. No localized damage, just another layer. Localized damage requires no fancy new items. Freelancer itself has it in Vanilla. It's just that most non-vanilla models would need to be updated to be composed of parts. It'd be amazing for caps, though. Blow off half the turrets by blowing up a certain part. Lots and lots of work, and a female dog to balance, unfortunately. RE: Ablative armor idea - Durandal - 11-10-2013 I'd rather see caps get support abilities such as deployable shields that work like this (while taking the ship's actual shields offline or draining powercore or something) Would look better and be easier to balance. RE: Ablative armor idea - Switchback - 11-10-2013 Neo Terra did this for the gunboats. It was reasonably useful, but it highly depended on the gunboat used. Cool in theory, not very in practice. You would need to have a specific armor for each ship model. And it didn't look all that great. |
