Are we still doing the whole "pvp is the bane of RP instead of part of it"?

There's difference between PvP and shooting nearly defenceless transport. (and the more profitable transport, the less defence it have)

I disagree. It is still a PVP encounter, no matter what the ship. Otherwise we would not be counting PVP deaths involving battleships killing snubs or something.

What if I told you. There is a certain and growing group of players on Disco, vets mostly, who do this silent treatment on purpose.

In other words, they have boycotted piracy as a player interaction.

Are you pirating for an easy blue and than ask others to RP? O.o

By that, I mean I am not roleplaying the guys asking for 10 000 credits off of ore haulers "For the sake of good pirate RP lol" thing. And yes, because piracy still requries RP by the server rules. I expect the other side to RP back.

I guess in that case you're collecting the crop others have plant, I mean I have seen this since I started to play Disco...

While in a group of traders eager to RP, one encounters let's say a couple of milordie pirates, then a third one comes to RP but the group just had enough so it doesn't stops to see what kind of player is that third one.

... Repeat this a couple of sessions and then you have a whole group just skipping interaction, yes it's sad but I think it's what currently happens.

cancer

didn't rad past that

Edit:

That is, you're saying you're not RPing but just taking cash or blue msg. Why would one like that approach from all possible approaches? How is it different from any idiot 2millordie retard gameplay around? I guess you need to rethink your approach to piracy and then, maybe, players would like to play with you.

I must say, I found myself being silent quite a few times when encountering pirates. Mostly I just wait for them to say something first though, see what kind of pirate they are. If they end up being the "lolwut-demand-everything-pirates" I just go like "screw this" in my head and try my own thing to get away. Or just shoot him, hoping to surprise kill him while typing. Or I just drop my freight and shoot it.

I won't play with people who think they can screw with me as a player. It's not just about their fun in blowing up transports or getting insane amounts of credits.

I would even go so far and say that those silent traders have increased due to the increase of piracy demands; pirates now very often demand ~5 times more than they did when I started here. There were by far not as many pirates demanding 3-5 mio from a normal cargo transport in .85 and I flew around A LOT back then.

For me it depends a lot on the overall attitude of the other PLAYER. And yes, I know the excuse of "but that's RP! My pirate is SOOO BAD! blahblah!", but what difference does it make iRP if you just demand less instead of making the player on the other side go "this sucks"?
Also, it feels like there's little point in RPing when the outcome is inevitable, when the other person is just out for a blue message, when he just wants to hurt you.

Still, I agree, silent traders when you are obviously not one of those above mentioned kind of pirates are just annoying. In the short time I did pirate they just got on my nerves, you try to talk to them, no response - cruise activates... talk to them some more, try to engage them in RP... nothing. One time I CD'd someone all the way from halfway point between Mojave and the NY Gate to Westpoint, at some point he started talking. Sometimes NOT immediatly shooting them, but just annoying the crap out of them seems to work, I guess.

It's all a circle: a few people just love to screw with the traders so much, that they just give up on the "being pirated RP"; those traders then go silent and thereby annoy other pirates which then go and screw other traders harder, which then get annoyed and go silent trading more ... and so on. The overall attitude of some people is a problem, and I won't say I'm a saint, but I sure aren't one who's out for ruining someone elses ingame experience - unless they try to ruin mine first.

Do you think that I would be still around if I did not give any roleplay before shooting something?
EDIT: Also, re-read the thing you quoted.

Quote:I rarely pirate for the RP
Quote:you're saying you're not RPing

There is a damned difference between those two statements.
