That means that if a base is under siege defenders who are already docked cannot log and offload fuel and repair supplies if the shields are up. RE: There are 84 POBs on the server. - Silver - 01-19-2014 Ranging from a minimum distance to solar objects (ex: planets, bases, gates, jump-holes), to a easier way to destroy them (ex: you need at least 30 cap's slugging cerbs to even bypass the shield, and still the availability of commodities is another factor on longevity, and never mind the server meltdown when 30+ caps starts shooting at a pob), to silent traders that go from A to B, disregarding roleplay due to availability of certain commodities (yes, i am looking at you).
And now, well, server lag spikes all around, etc etc. SRP pob's, make limit number to bases per system, increase failability, whatever. They are hurting the gameplay all around the server. Kudos. <3 RE: There are 84 POBs on the server. - Mímir - 01-19-2014 imo the quality of interaction with base suppliers is generally lower than any other type of encounter because base suppliers more often than not are grinding and not really having fun doing what they are doing, but rather thinking about the fun they are going to have once their base is upgraded or build modules and so on - so any form of interaction or slowdowns are a nuisance to them. make them srp, lag is bad and quite a few bases and baseowners contribute with very little to justify for the base's existence as well as the lag. RE: There are 84 POBs on the server. - Zed26 - 01-19-2014 Even without waiting to agree on rules, develop SRP protocol, and read through applications, there's an easy first step that can be taken right now which should at least purge a few bases: Post a prominent announcement giving all base owners a certain number of days/weeks from now to report their base with proof of ownership and at least a basic purpose, after which unclaimed bases will be removed. A base that is not reported within a week likely means it is being silently supplied by individuals who couldn't be bothered to check the forums, in a ridiculously remote location, and contributing little to the RP environment.

The increased load on the server is troublesome though. I agree with what Laura C. said Make them take much longer to get up and operational. Yeah... this will suck for those building. However, it will allow for the bases to be destroyed more easily before it becomes near impossible. Right now there is no chance to react. Server load is not the same as lag. You should know that, flhooker. |
