RE: Drunk Sunday What IF thread: Abandonment of anonymosity ingame - sindroms - 02-09-2014 Again, this is all a what-if scenario. I doubt it is even technically possible. RE: Drunk Sunday What IF thread: Abandonment of anonymosity ingame - Lampyridae - 02-09-2014 No. What I would like though, is to know in game name changes for bounties and the like. On topic, nah, it would probably be hunt for people you have grudges with on forum. Not worth the drama. RE: Drunk Sunday What IF thread: Abandonment of anonymosity ingame - MÃmir - 02-10-2014 There isn't much anonymity anyways, with the forum and stuff it's pretty easy to tell who's who - styles of roleplay, PVP, equipment and choice of wording are also very revealing. We aren't that many players playing on a regular basis. I'd like game accounts linked to forum accounts, like in Eve Online, also because we have lots of players discussing things here on the forum who haven't played for months/years and have absolutely no clue what they are talking about, and they would be rooted out that way. It would also promote accountability for yours and your character's actions. RE: Drunk Sunday What IF thread: Abandonment of anonymosity ingame - Ironwatsas - 02-11-2014 Knowing who you're dealing can often break the immersion of the RP, especially when it's with someone you didn't expect. It would also make it difficult for inRP secrecy and would act as a 'scarlet letter' in cases of contempt. It is an incredibly bad idea, and you are an incredibly bad person for suggesting it. That being said, if you want to know who someone is that bad, ask them. RE: Drunk Sunday What IF thread: Abandonment of anonymosity ingame - RmJ - 02-11-2014 Yeah if people do that, from experience, they just love to kill me because they know who I am. Alternatively it being added by will with a command then I have no issue with it. But people lie....so... RE: Drunk Sunday What IF thread: Abandonment of anonymosity ingame - Kazinsal - 02-11-2014 Tying login IDs to forum accounts was something I thought of back during the DPC fiasco. If your login ID wasn't tied to a valid, unbanned forum account, it wouldn't work on the server. I never did look into implementing it. RE: Drunk Sunday What IF thread: Abandonment of anonymosity ingame - sindroms - 07-19-2016 I am sorry for gravedigging this, but I found it kinda amusing. So this thread was a suggestion I made a few years back, when we still were maxing out the server at that point. It seems as though I've not thought it through back then just what would this suggestion mean. Today disco is so condensed that it is very obvious as to who is flying what character in most cases, especially when it comes to tagged ships. Needless to say, it feels kinda wrong to have it that way. When you are interacting with someone ingame that you do not know, only for them to drop a subtle hint in the form of a word or in-joke and you go "Oh..its that guy". Times change, heh. |
