I normaly warn the newbs for the oncoming sanction when they act like that and the reason behind it .

some are lolwutters and reply like i care and such but others ask to wing with me and so learn how things roll .

Ok when an vet starts acting like a newb its something else they should be punished but we as players cant precisly say who is true vet or no so maybe a little heads up chanel to point admins toward some names who act like it would be nice

See I've tried telling people what they are doing wrong but all I get is "U mad?".... However I've never filed a report in my time here.. Not worth it really.

I only report when I see things like an IMG battlecruiser silently engaged me whilst being assisted by a silently engaging zoner carrier whom, once the IMG battlecruiser is dead, is getting fed by a Freelancer ID'd shire who keeps undocking from Java, feeding 500 B/Bs, dies, then comes straight back again and spams ")))".

And that was only in the space of about 20 minutes.

"Duty" may be too strong a word as to whether we should be policing the server and reporting problems, but the Admins certainly aren't going to be able to see everything at once. That's why their is a submission and review period for violation reports. This also prevents folks from just reporting folks they don't like or they are mad at.

The trick is finding the balance between TEACHING someone the rules who is apparently ignorant, and weeding out the trolls and reporting them for their obvious abuse.

For starters...anyone responding to a rule criticism with "U MAD BRO?" is probably a troll and deserves a report.

You can say that you don't need to report them, or that it's not worth it to you...but how would you expect anything to happen if you take no action at all?

This nails it.
There are whole bunch of new players that have no clue about the game and do stupid things, helping them and explaining to them stuff instead of reporting is better.

Also there are some angry abusive kids lolwuting around- reporting them is must,

It is kinda stupid topic since even in the rules is/was written that reporting players should be last resort.

Some time ago, Jax joined up with a pirate group, invisible on his admin ship, and ended up bastilling 7 people over the course of two hours. It is that bad.

More of this. if people think there may be an invisible admin around, they might act better. and the ones that dont can be reported.

i agree with sindroms here. there has to be a line where rules and the right thing being done take precedence over just getting anybody and everybody on to the server.

perhaps a big community discussion is in order? where everybody can express their ideas, and the admins/devs can then refine and implement any good ideas.

It is just game, don't forget this please.
Then I do agree that we have rules and that we need rules.
But guys we also have big Sirius and small number of players.

I do agree that in some cases we should filed report, but still I will never do it.

I still remember how many new things I have seen here when I started to play on this server..

Also I think when you sanction new player, it should be really small sanction.
Perhaps only to see if he can speak english.

But than again we have some players that know how to speak english lenguage and they still ignore rules...well they are special cases and they need bit more attention.

Heh I will not vote. This is to hard poll for me to decide.

Eh one more thing:
it is much easier when you are attacked by silent new guy
than to meet some good player who wrote just one sentance and than he pop you.
Well have fun, yes yes I know you can't have fun if someone is not playing by rules.

Yes, we should always report people. It's like with RL crimes, by not reporting them we become kinda co-guilty.

RE: Is it our duty to report people? Should it? - Birdtalon - 02-17-2014

I think I've submitted about 10 reports in total over my time here.

Mainly because I can't be bothered. Isn't this server already sanctionlancer enough anyway?

RE: Is it our duty to report people? Should it? - sindroms - 02-17-2014

Nah, that's the problem. The usual QQ that the server is full of rulebrakers is in fact because most vets here, when facing them, take the

approach. Thus the question, should we do the opposite?
