It's actually for sale if anyone is interested in keeping it alive and wants to keep it in the same spirit of, like, helping newbs get started.

Although you should probably hit me up in a forum PM / on Skype or whatever and not here (((:

I would rather the amount of effort for a PoB to be kept alive to remain the same - forcing a certain level of forum rp would make my life way too hard - in the last 3 days I have had two 14hour days. yet the base I look after has survived and the suggestion I should somehow provide more rp for it. It would make my life too difficult.

You know what funny is? Just right now, we have more bases than players in the server. Why do we need so many bases? One per offical faction would be enough.

What about all the players who spent ages building their bases and maintaining them - are you suggesting they all get removed?

I disagree, factions should be allowed multiple bases if they so wish, some of us operate in more than one House

I do believe stations should be more demanding to upkeep.

This would force people to consider if building yet another station is worth the investment.

Big factions, like DSE, USI etc should be able to upkeep with their large playerbase.

Silent traders that make language_based group consisting of 3 ships shouldn't be able to upkeep the base, unless they spend majority of their time trading, and shooting LFs with their CAU8 Cloak Dreads much rarer sight.

Look at NY. It has 4 stations. Imagine if it had only 2, protecting the Z21, and let's say DSE's. All of Navy/LSF/LPI support/trade ships would have to care about those two stations, making them absolutely impenetrable.

Hoover station is constantly under 100%, showing that =LSF= is incapble of mustering enough players to keep it stocked all the time.

Or that its owner simply doesn't care about Disco anymore.

Not trying to be rude, but it had to be said.

No offense taken. I meant it when I said I'm open to counter arguments. I absolutely agree that the actual gameplay is in-game and we personally try to organize convoys, trade equipment in space, etc. However, as I mentioned, it's still an RP server in-game and on the forums - would it hurt to at least add a brief infocard description for your base through a simple command and interact a bit rather than watching the player list to ensure no one's around, then silently trading to a base 100k above/below plane? If anything, a bit of forum RP would go a long way to make up for the lack of in game interaction with those bases - perhaps just a staged screenshot and a copy of the chatlog with a little inRP game dialogue? Otherwise, this just adds fuel to the fire for complaints calling for the plugin's removal altogether, which I definitely disagree with. The intent is to demonstrate that bases aren't just taking up space.

Quote:This is not to say that all old base owners suddenly have to draft a 1000+ word RP description with flashy graphics or lose their hard work (and I know how much goes into it), but could we see some justification in line with the new requirements?
I'll reiterate that this is a one-time check-in for the current bases that have been grandfathered in - especially if they're already core 4 and have bypassed the new process. Lyth's proposal for "monthly RP or explode" is purely his own. I responded to Vipera Berus' concerns in the other thread that the base thread he posted looked great and am tempted to make a character and try some in-game RP because the location and premise are genuinely interesting. So, I don't hate bases or think anyone's RP is less valid than others as long as they're trying. As it stands, I can't even make a smuggler or trader and offer to supply these bases because there's no information or sign of the owners. Bases have a lot of potential to bring people together and bolster activity. I hope this makes slightly more sense and sounds less imperious.

On an unrelated note, I think your commitment to "hardcore" and dynamic characters that are highly active across Sirius is great. I recall blowing up one of your ships with the LNS-Camden, getting your Cosmo Van Nostrom reference, and roleplaying a transfer to Fort Bush. I apologize for not following up on the forums.
