Nope nope nope. Not again. "We're microsoft and we'll force you to use the latest skype version, because it has ads, needs ten times more ressources, offers less features and works much worse than the older versions. Have fun."
My 4.2.0.187 still works fine. I just can't get inivited into groups created by new version users. Thanks for the hint though. Guess I'll have to make some backups of my skype files.

If you are running XP SP 3 or Win. 7 or 8 you don't have to worry. I, for one, won't format my old hard disk just to install SP3 only to make Skype work.

I've gotten into the habit of using my wi-fi devices (phone, tablet) for skype instead of the desktop client.
