I always found mining strangely cathartic. If you find a spot with a nice background to look ar, even better.
It is also instantly gratifying. Trading always seemed like long waits between gratification. ..if that makes any sense.

Yeah...my threads are best left for flood. Thanks nOobl3t, I'll keep that in mind. I've decided to mine for awhile. I might poke a few rocks in the edge worlds maybe spy here and there.... shame I can't create dirty bombs....

I assume rhe system platinum inc. used to control would be nice. Its a pretty system too...haven't played in a year so i forgot its name.
Platinum is profitable as well. At least it was last year.
EDIT: I was fond of creating a level 1 base near the field to serve as a drop-point. This allows you to take 5k in less trips than using just a hegemon. They're cheap to build and maintain., easily done with a friend. I had 4 bases built and destroyed in Humboldt. I made a killing on cobalt, and would steal silver when possible. It was almost as much fun sneaking and supplying the little base asit was mining. Also the only time I had over 1,000,000,000 credits in 4 years.
