Use,,ESET smart security...using since last 3 years...No problem. When Freelancer was installed, it simply asks when allow communication or Not ?
Also give option to make it a rule..

Give Comodo Internet Security a go.
It was little annoying when I first set it up, it asked *so* many questions about the various programs I use on my PC, but after a little while of that the only time I hear from it all is when it finds something -or- when a program tries to communicate without permission.
No major, PC breaking problems as yet.
