Yeah I think it would spoil the game to much cause everyone will end up invisible eventually.

No more cloaks OK? It's cheating... read Lancersreactor forum if you wish to know why. They delete all cloak-related discussions on spot.

ok ok lets just assume we could get and change cloak to our uses if it absolutely had to be there it should work like tis.

if you get withing 500K your seen (or is it KM or M i cant remember.. the shrot one)

It should also onyl cloak so much. like 75% transparrency or something. 85% max so you can be seen.

Also i think it owuld be cool if there was a piece of equipment that capital ships could use to fire there turrets at fighters withing X number of KM. when it fires it would have an X% chance to hit and would fire within the general flightpath of the. this would only owrk for moving oponents and owuld not autotarget non movingcapital ships. and any turret "Active" (any turret that can be fired were your mouse is pointing) should not autofire.

I jsut htought of this cause i noticed that all capital ships that arnt player controled fire at about 8 different targets and to have 10+ turrets is useless if you can only fire 2 or 3. also this shouldnt owkr for things like the Forward gun of cruisers, it should also not work for Missile turrets.

Anyway just a side idea cause thsi would be the sweetest thing ever but i doubt it could eer be made.. im goan commence dreaming.

I dont think its possible. As igiss said,
Quote:The cloak device normally works this way: you equip it on a base, and then become permanently invisible. It cannot be disrupted or consume power, only weapons consume power. It's hardcoded..
Instead, a sensor scrambler missile could be a better idea. Just fire it and run for u life...

Hide? - Dab - 09-09-2005

Yeah have the missile simulate an I.D. of your ship so it sais your name as its name, while you try to escape.

Hide? - Kane - 09-09-2005

That would be funny. The better the Decoy missle, the more often your ship decides the missile is your target. Won't that be fun? :D

It might be a little hard as an excuse on battleships, cruisers, and maybe enven gunships though. There is a huge visual thing in Freelancer that a simple decoy missle won't cover up.

Hide? - Igiss - 09-10-2005

Eh... did you see at least one of those things done in any mods?

Cloaking is absolute. You equip the device, and then you are 100% invisible, impossible to scan, etc. I don't think there's transparency variations in Freelancer. You remember how ships decloak in singleplayer? It's just a special scripted animation. No transparency things.

Autofire - no it's impossible, AI cannot work on player ship. No way, you can only handle your weapons yourself.

Missiles - good idea, maybe it's even possible, but no clue how. It should be very complicated scripting *shivers*

What I ment was your targetting system saw the missile more of a threat then the real ship. This would probobly be of more use on trading ships and fighters, not so much on capital and gunship class ships.

But yes, that would require literal TONS of coding. Maybe you could find someone from Digital Anvil, EA Games, or even from Bungie (They do much good :D ) to help out with that. Otherwise, I don't see that happenning.

Still, it's fun to at least talk about it.

You surprised me, really. First of all, why EA Games is in the list?

Next, Digital Anvil no longer exists I believe. And I don't know any modders who were DE employees previously.

Hide? - Kane - 09-11-2005

Oh wait... EA Games is just a sponcer, isn't it? I thought of them because it's the first 'Logo intro' thing to come up on BF2, The Sims (1 and 2), and bunches of other games. Man, I gotta learn about these game companies some more.

Besides, this is all theory anyway. I'm just throwing ideas out there.

Hide? - Igiss - 09-11-2005

EA is the biggest game publisher in the world, as far as I'm concerned.
