If the Un-fair play is within Role play, that is just something your going to have to deal with. Because Role play is supposed to be as much like the real thing as possible, if it is not role play its most likely not fair.

Fairplay and roleplay are not mutualy exclusive. It is perfectly possibly to RP hanging back from a fight.

Also, engaging with huge numbers... Not needed.

If there is a small group attacking something, then take a -slightly- superiour force. That way you are in RP (superiour numbers assuring a victory) and also making it fair (by not having a freaking horde of people to shoot down a single bloody scimmy).

Besides, if the larger force starts to take casualties and looks like losing, then those who hung back could join the fight, equally within RP, as it appears that their assistance is needed after all.

Everything can be kept fun, and within roleplay. However if it came down to one or the other, (which it doesn't) I would be unable to decide.

Just because a target presents itself doesn't mean you need to engage.

Regard everyone elses fun time before you start a fight. Today we RoS went to gamma with what was quite a large force. We had a good fight when we were there, I geniunly enjoyed it. We went with a force of that size -only- because we could see the numbers we had against us. We also refused the requests of a few capships who would have accompanied us down, due to the fact we wanted a good fight, not an overpowered peice of rubbish.
We lost...

On a little side note Magoo.
How is one supposed to use a bomber without a supernova?

I say fairplay. If you just roleplay then that is fine too. The problem is, SOME people don't know how to RP. That's how you get these issues where you're questioning how the heck things turned out a certain way. If there's one thing I've learned it's that sudden, unexpected, unwelcome changes screw it up and lead to arguments -- unless the sudden change fits into the situation.

And though a Corsair gunboat in Leeds may be out of place it's not ooRP if he's got a good reason for being there. Unless of course his reasoning is that tacos were on sale.

Fairfights? Haha! That's a laugh. Goodluck with that one. I agree with Orin though, if there's a chance for a fairfight then go for it. If there isn't a chance for a fairfight.. I hope you're on the side with the upper hand.

So IRL lawfuls would send unwieldly amounts of forces to apprehend petty crooks?

Ohhh, okay. Got it.

SEND IN DA CAPS

it's hard. Roleplay dictates that the Outcasts bring in the heavy guns to stomp on the Corsair fighters that just entered Malta orbit (and vice versa) but Fairplay says leave the caps out until the enemys have vaped your fighter corp. Speaking as someone who has been on both sides of that battle it's a fickle line. I don't mind so much getting crushed by a defending force of multipule dreadnaughts and cruisers and gunboats but I do mind bringing all missile boats to a fighter battle. RP dictates we should, FP says we shouldn't.

I guess it's situational. If it's the RP of the Xenos to be outnumbered and outgunned everywhere they go then they can't really complain about it. But when it's the Xenos getting attacked by 22 missile boats then yes, it's a problem.

Speaking of duels; My OC bomber was chasing a IMG GB out of Alpha where he had farmed some pilots. Chased him through Eta/Theta into 41 where there were no less then 5 Corsair gunboats (mostly OPG but 2 indys) and Gentle in his Titan waiting for me. Like the suicidal pilot I am I charged the GB that I had been chasing and managed to do some serious damage to it before Gentle challanged me to a duel for the lives of the pilots. I managed to SN him and collect my pilots. Then they all opened up on me again. I ducked out into Cambridge where I flew around trying to find a place to hide from the Corsairs hot on my tail. They brought in 2 cruisers and more GBs/Fighters to hunt me down. Then the BHG showed up and as I had a 50mil bounty on my head they went after me. I managed to sneak away to FP 1 after 2 hours of playing cat and mouse. Docking at the FP I found that I had less credits then it would take to repair my poor ship. (this was back before /givecash). I logged for an hour come back to find 2 BH GBs staring at me. I managed to escape to the Hessian base in 11. Logged for more time. Got Lohingren to come down from Alpha and give me some cash to repair my ship. then FPSDoug in his Corsair Bomber shows up and wastes us both. >.<

Moral of the story, don't get me started on stories. :P

Due to the Superior skills of the Corsairs, the outcasts ALWAYS lose :D:D:D:Dhehe jk jk

I would like you to change this to "some people" because MOST people on the server DO rp, and are good at it.

I must be a cap whore cause I voted Role Play for some reason

That's what I was infering. I changed it anyway though. I've been on here for a couple months though and so far I haven't seen much outstanding RP. The best RP I see is actually here on the forums not on the server.

I think there should be a balance, but teetering toward the RP side. When I fly a cap and I see a duel going on I'll either move along or stay and watch, depending on how I feel. OoRP, yea probably, but it is fair. Now if there is a fighter battle going on and one of the pilots calls for the assist, the yea ill go in guns blazing.

I think if people can find a balance between FP and RP Disco will be a better place for all!

Hm, I voted for fairplay, although it is a difficult one because both do go hand in hand. I don't mind so much getting killed overall, unless it was something totally ridiculous and stupid, but that doesn't happen often. It's a difficult one, though. I'm guilty of stomping over people too when I have had the opportunity to do so though (normally BHG caps in Sigma 13).
