Getting FL on a new PC wasn't because of hardware issues. My FL disc was destroyed some time ago. Also, it's alive with a larger drive and a whole bunch of new stuff. Lost almost all of my stuff though.

Hate hardware issues. Only because it's not worth repairing the faulty hardware or not even possible these days.
Try a local pay it forward/give a little Facebook page and see what the locals have in terms of second hand hardware for cheap or nothing.
