Pirate ID - tfmachad - 09-25-2008 ' Wrote:Rules are a guideline... in RP you should be able to bend them to fit as long as it isn't excessive.Suggestion, lose the tag and keep the ship, that's pretty indicative of what you are doing. Of course, it's easier to understand a Wrath with a pirate ID speaking cryptic stuff (we have a couple in Rheinland) than an Avenger doing the same. Libertonian Wilds are something unheard of, but to be honest, if there are "new" Wild, they would more likely come from Liberty at this point. Rheinlanders jump ten feet high just at the mention of Nomads and the Wild. Anyway... If it wasn't Liberty. Seriously that you want to try that in Liberty of all places? I see more grievances coming from this than anything else. It's difficult enough to do regular RP in Liberty. Trying to do extraordinary RP there is an exercise of frustration. Not to mention you'll likely gather some ten reports a day for flying a military ship under a pirate ID. Again, a suggestion, at least lose the tag. It will get you in less trouble. Pirate ID - MB52 - 09-25-2008 Eh the only way into the wilde is to join the official faction. The official Wilde faction are reinlanders.... you hear me? Before calling me an OORP player do a bit of research please.... Keep in mind this will be only a fighter.... Edit- while I agree Gronath, this particular character is already well established in a current story I've been writing and is to become a "reoccurring" villain of sorts. Likely operating in only Alaska and maybe other nomad systems. Its not like I just got up and decided to make a nomad. The story has led to it and it was in the master plan when I started over 6 months ago. Though you may be right to lose the tag, might save some trouble. Pirate ID - AceofSpades - 09-25-2008 I did a similar char, here's what I did to avoid confusion. Lost IFF- had no IFF in fact. Pirate ID Tagged char (infested) Thusly, for example LNS-Sky-(infested)... with this and a pirate ID, along with my speech patterns, 9/10 people recognized me instantly Pirate ID - tfmachad - 09-25-2008 ' Wrote:I did a similar char, here's what I did to avoid confusion.Great solution right there. Pirate ID - Zapp - 09-25-2008 ' Wrote:Geez man ... I'm getting sick of these OORP players. There's no role play in this ... and a story line is just an excuse to avoid role play. You wanna be a Nomad ... be a Nomad. You wanna be a Nomad infested Libertine ... be a Wild ... that's what Wild are ... they are specifically Nomad infested characters. Not to flame, but the above boldened statement sickens me. Role play is just that - playing a role. Now, defining role, it doesn't come out to 'generic NPC across the board', it comes out to 'a specific niche that a character fills'. If this character's purpose is to be infected, then hot damn he's completely in role play. Now, with the new regulations, he has to get it approved, but still, broadly calling someone ooRP before you see the story, before you see anything other than the ship/tag/ID, is a case of the worst ignorance. /rant Pirate ID - sovereign - 09-25-2008 Psst, the category Wild is a subcategory of infested humans, not the other way around. The Wild is an organization made up of infested Rheinlanders, the other house equivalents have different names. Couple other points, what ship would this be? Fighter, GB, etc. (EDIT: Silly me, didn't read closely enough. Fighter is easier to manage.) Secondly, what are you planning on arming it with? And third, where do you plan to dock? I'd also recommend that you try Ace's suggestions. Losing the tag will cut off most if not all of the reports, the ship should keep your meaning understood. Going as far as putting "infested" in your name would certainly get the point across. In addition, I would most certainly suggest that you post in the Special RP Chars forum; this is the kind of thing that it's for. Failure to mention it there will lead to problems if you play it long enough... or get within 10k of Manhattan... Pirate ID - Baltar - 09-25-2008 ' Wrote:Anyway... If it wasn't Liberty. New York is where all the new members of Disco start. What would a noob think when he undocked from Manhattan and saw mb52's character? He'd see a mix and match ID, IFF, Ship, guns, etc. He's think cool ... I can be "whatever" I want. Now we've got yet another noob problem where they don't know the difference between RP and OORP. Congratulations ... we've just made role play so complex that its no longer distinguishable from PVP. ' Wrote:Eh the only way into the wilde is to join the official faction. Too late ... you've already flamed me. Congratulations. Shall I fire a volley in return and we go down the path of hurling insults? Role play according to THIS server. Um ... isn't the point to Disco that we maintain the "original" story line? Oh well ... pretty soon this server will have nothing in common with the original story ... oops ... too late. I got an idea ... Liberty Rogues are no longer a criminal element. They've given up crime and have become prominent members of the Liberty government. Now they maintain all the red tape you go through to get a license to fly. Oh ... and those customs forms ... yeah ... need em in triplicate. I do hope you understand this was sarcasm. But what you fail to recognize is that the admins have already declared this type of request is auto-denied. Not to mention this specific request mb52 wants is expressly forbidden by the rules. Its black letter law and ... um ...ahem ... the rule specifically calls it OORP. Here it is again if you failed to read it before. Quote:6.2 Out of Roleplay (OORP): EDIT: What he's asking for is the ok to break a rule. Kinda like someone requesting permission to adjust the speed of their ship by modifying one of the files ... you know ... the modders that tend to get banned. Go check the 40+ page thread pinned (I think) in the rules section. There was a massive discussion about this, and there is now this nice little forum called "special RP chars" which is exactly for unorthodox loadouts. Sole reason for its existence. Please, realize that it isn't just this one... it's whoever asks and does a good job with it. Pirate ID - MB52 - 09-25-2008 Ouch.. people people.. no need to go overboard here... As for the char.. it will be a single guardian fighter equipped with a mixture of Nomad cannons and Liberty weapons. (projectile speed doesn't match but it doesn't matter) For docking the only real option is Gammu or Primus unless I find a "station" somewhere that doesn't know he's infested and might let him dock. And Ace does have a good idea, which I think I'll do. That and post in the special RP section. Quote:Hey ... do whatever you want ... everybody else does. I've never actually reported someone for anything like this. Nor would I heck.. I could have reported 2 ships today for disengaging and not leaving the system but I didn't cause I seen no reason to. Pirate ID - Zapp - 09-25-2008 There's a difference between "ooRP" and "against the rules", Baltar - and there is a way, as Sovereign just pointed out, to get "ooRP" loadouts approved under the rules. |
