Pancake, we have different concepts in mind there, but I see where you are coming from and where you are aiming it at. In my draft, the docking permissions would be easier to handle: you can dock where your (chosen) IFF would be allowed to dock. In your case, likely only Zoner bases, perhaps IMG Bases in the borderworlds would work. Perhaps some unscrupulous, powerful corps like Samura?

As I said: I am not opposed to it, but seeing that already the 2 of us had completely different concepts while talking about the same thing might show the main difficulty: clarification of what a Vigilante is, what he does, etc.

RE: Vigilante ID - Corile - 01-10-2015

In the current state of affairs such restricted ID would be pointless because Freelancer and BHG IDs exist.

However copypasting Freelancer ID and modifying it to "can engage any unlawful, can escort transports, cannot get paid" would work pretty well imho, without complicating too much stuff.

(I just read the OP).

I remember, that when I was new to the server, that ID was being exploited on my neutral Freelancer character in NY for reasons unknown to me. Therefore I always had a bad feeling when a Vigilante was around, as I thought they'd be something like undercover police guys enforcing "vigilante justice" without needing a reason for it.

Didn't vote.

This is true, because the old Vigilante ID was broken as hell. If you only permit now the vigilante ID to engage targets that are unlawful (per their ID, it's written in the first clause whether the ID is lawful or not), you won't have this problem anymore. You're a freelancer and a Vigilante engaged you? That's a rule violation and he's opened up for sanctions.
@Jack_Henderson
Now that you point it out I get the different mindset the two of us have. What I suggest is the concept, not the exact writing. I assume that we could make an easy clarification of what the Vigilante is exactly. The same way many IDs have now short explanation about the faction they represent.
@Protégé
Vigilante ID, must have many restrictions for a simple purpose - being vigilante is a VERY hard life. And the ID must reflect it. We also don't want Sirius-wide police force that will replace BHG and house police factions, we want something that adds to them. Because this ID is so overpowered by its ability to go everywhere and execute unlawfuls it must have some stark disadvantages that will promote its usage for RP purposes, rather than "I WANT HAZ BLUE HAR HAR".

Le bump, need more votes people

Well, I'd say 'Yes' to everything that reminds me about .85, but also I loved old IDs [ Mercenary ID, Smuggler ID, Trader ID and Vigilante ID ] - all of that IDs showed me real atmosphere of Freelancer. So I think bringing back different colors of Freedom is good idea.
Voted.

The problem I see with base restrictions is that say a Vigilante ID player started working for a faction (normally, escorting them, helping in fights or whatever) and they wouldn't allow him to dock on their bases even though they've been working together.

Vigilantes aren't working for a faction. That's the whole point about them.

I think you miss the point of vigilantes.
