I have massively better hardware myself, but it's undeployable because the slightest DDOS will bring down the server. The issue here is that we need the server to be in a datacenter that provides DDOS protection, and no provider will host us with non-standard server hardware. RE: 125/125 - nOmnomnOm - 01-17-2015 So how do we get standard server hardware? What is standard server hardware anyway? If you look at the CPU, it will range between 2.8ghz up to 3.4ghz. Disco needs 5.0ghz to hold 200 players. RE: 125/125 - nOmnomnOm - 01-17-2015 so what you are saying is that it is impossible then? RE: 125/125 - sindroms - 01-17-2015 Our datacenters have a lot of leeway when it comes to custom hardware, but as far as I remember there were issues trying to remote control them. Look into it if you want, especially the services provided by Telia, Lattelecom and Balticom. RE: 125/125 - Alley - 01-17-2015 We're effectively stuck yes. We could start using my 5.2ghz home server, but the slightest DDOS would bring it down. Otherwise, we need to find a datacenter that could provide us with a 5ghz CPU, which is what majkp did until the DDOS forced him to drop the disco server before he got in trouble at his job. Finding this is... pretty much impossible. So yep, we're stuck. RE: 125/125 - An'shur - 01-17-2015 Before the limit change down to 125 players, the server seemed stable (at least for me). Only really big battles, like 10 Valors in Magellan or Garrett's Omicron things were able to crash it. I don't even remember such big player count as 200, but it is of course your decision what will you do with it. RE: 125/125 - Charo - 01-17-2015 final nail |
