The Order's tactic of attempting to strong-arm it's allies tends to backfire quite a bit, hostility breeds hostility, eventually somebody is going to say 'No' to a faction who has a history of forcing compliance in specific matters such as the use/acquisition of alien or even alien-appearing technologies. In this case the Order's attempt to strong-arm the TAZ has yielded some rather 'nasty' consequences that few people expected and would even deem undesirable. A wonderful application of the Chaos Theory and cause-and-effect. Not to say the Order cannot re-establish ties with certain Zoner factions, however this latest act may forever colour the opinions of several within the Zoner Community against the Order due to it's seemingly hard-line actions, actions they were desperate to get away from in the Houses; being dictated to and pushed around like they were worthless.
All in all, the Zoners and Order may not be enemies, but their friendship has hit a major bump in the road, what they must decide now is to try to change the tire and keep going as it were or get a new car and drive off in a new direction hoping they don't hit another pot-hole like that again.

I keep wondering why the rephack had to the added to the non-faction Order ID, instead of having been applied for the official faction's ID only.

Easy question, Fran. Because official factions are responsible for the entire NPC faction, meaning that their actions have an impact to the entire faction diplomacy.

That is one of the perks of being an official faction, it's a reward for putting in the time and effort. The ability to have some control over the direction and diplomacy of your faction in question. In this case negative actions breed negative consequences. As it should.

Actually every now and then I see indies, in fact I saw one in an Insurgent fighting against Corsairs in Frankfurt not too long ago. There's even another indy-faction starting up.
