Not only you. I like your idea, Bustard withno guns and equiped with BS shield would be nice. However BS's shield on civilian ship? Well, you know, those toys are kinda expensive inRP and shouldn't be avaible for everyone.
About Civ. Si. Pla.: I'm against it. Giving caps for civilians is a bad idea. It's even worse than giving caps to Zoners. But it's only my opinion. Capital ships shouldn't be avaible for everyone, they're expensive and difficult to build toys.
Battleship shields seem a lot more reasonable to be availible to civilians than cruiser turrets personally as it is purely defensive and as for the expensiveness/tech aspect it is already a battleship size vessel so I kind of find that point moot at least imo

BS shielded liner with no guns sounds like powertrader's wet dream. I doubt that would happen guys.
And, I'm afraid, there is strong necessity for such "civilian siege platform" (not a real civilian cap equal to navy battleships!), because bases need to be destroyed somehow.

Powertrading with a 1800 cargo ship with 280 cruise I doubt it. Powertraders tend to use armorless 5ks even sometimes using frieghter shields for more space
EDIT: I'd still settle for cruiser shield but this was just what I'd personally like to make it actually able to preform as a carrier.

You're right Pavel, what about ship like Bustard with cruiser shield, some gunboat turrets and one slot for mortar? But withno ANY docking modules and MUCH smaller cargo space. It should be enough to besiege some POBs and still weak enough to get killed by more serious battleships.

Somethin something, evolution, civilians need some love and some new toys too. I like Pavel's Idea, it'd be interesting, at least from my point of view.
In any case, it would be just another piece of scrap for me to shoot at. So personally, i don't care too much about it.

Me personally, would love to be able to mount 2 cerbs.
on my civilian carrier....not that I'll be attacking
anything, I just use it to deliver my docking module
orders, but I'd love to actually be able to somewhat
defend myself in that thing, ya know? I'd feel safer
with a slingshot than I do with terribely arced cruiser
turrets....just my thoughts....
