Not some random retards on Facebook.

Go look at RP communities and throw this in if they have a dedicated forum for other games.
If you just spam this, it will be the same as spambots posting on our forum.

People tend not to enjoy that.

Everybody starts fresh. Its our job to teach the aspects of RP to newcomer. Nobody starts of as a seasoned RP-er. Unless and until we get new players the player base is bound to shrink. Also not everybody in facebook is a "Random Retards".

Besides its not spam. We are not flooding peoples inbox with advertisement.

Think of it as wearing the colors of your favorite team.

Some people aren't interested in Sci-Fi, some people aren't looking for such a possibilities, which are offered by Disco.
Freelancer is a good game - we all love it, but it doesn't mean that it can attract some new people.
Many people are just choosing better-looking games like Eve, Elite

Getting people to know about Freelancer doesn't mean that they will start playing, and even if the do, it doesn't mean that they will stay there for longer than a few hours, or even minutes

It's just difficult to get some people for longer to such a old game. Thanks to Devs for every update and adding many possibilities, but Freelancer is still a Freelancer. Some people just don't get it

No harm in trying . What have we got to lose.

I think Disco may need a little more than advertisement, our community is viewed as quite toxic and unfriendly as was the frequent issue mentioned in the ill-fated Star Citizen thread. We can throw all the shiny toys we have at the new folks but if they feel unwelcome chances are they won't hang around for very long, so before we go shouting from the hill-tops we may want to ensure that our players demonstrate a decent level of consideration.
Remind folks to avoid spoiling others fun for the sake of their own, regardless if it within the rules to do so, and to treat everyone they encounter with the same respect as they would wish to be treated.

Bear in mind that most of the people giving that impression there were the cadre of toxic permaban alumina that we've racked up over the years. That wasn't helped by actual members arguing back against them and legitimising their attempt to poison the well.

Why don't we just assign someone as the Public Relations Czar of Discovery whose only job is to find gaming news sites, network, and then get a front-page article posted and create good media that shows off the nicer side of the server?

By nicer side I mean anywhere not in the Omicrons or Liberty.

Because is what a paying job is.
After spending three years as a sales and logistics manager, one of which's responsibilities is to seek out new clients, it is not as easy as it sounds. Even less so on the internet, because it feels like you are advertising potatoes.

Anyway, we had people post their sites here as well. Did you click on any of them? Or did you report them as spambots and or filled their threads with ironic lolposts and spiderman images.

Community is toxic? Start banning the people responsible then.
Admins these days are so scared that banning ''active members'' could result in negative changes to the mod that all of the cool kids cliques are allowed to remain regardless of the retardation going on inside of them. Fix the existing community so that there is a place for new members to come to.

I fail to see how that would be any different than running a faction or such.

All the person has to do is just dove-tail-piggy-back collecting good footage, or even have members of the community submit stuff.

Then find a community like Se7enSins or TheGamerSquare, open an official communication with him and say that you represent a community of people whom have put lots of time and effort and have turned abandonware into something great, something wonderful, and something magical.

As much as people hate me, I keep coming back here because Discovery has something that HAS not been replicated (At least until Star Citizen) and I think that deserves some attention.

I am not talking about forum spam. I am talking about "Hi. I understand you post news and have a viewer base of blah. Here is something we'd like you to report on. What do you say? How can we co-operate with you?"

Hey Walker, long time no see.
Also, as always, I like your sarcasm. Smile

So I really doubt this would interfere with laws or server hosting rules, unless specifically stated.

Perhaps it is time to integrate a Discovery Freelancer ISO, as a standalone game, just like Project Reality for BF2 did.

PR was able to do this because they received permission from EA
