Try these steps

1. Uninstall disco and freelancer and any other mods (some mods interfere with disco)

2. Go into your my documents and delete any saved folder that you see of freelancer/disco

3. Check your virus checker for any quarantined “dsace.dll” and remove it

4. Temporary disable “live” protection of your virus checker, and also whilst at it, make sure you don’t have an over protective firewall

5. Reinstall freelancer to default folders and then install disco to default folders
Eg mine is C:\Users\*your login*\AppData\Local\Discovery Freelancer 4.88.1

6. Go into your virus checker and tell it to allow that ENTIRE folder and all in it

7. Try disco before enabling virus checker

That SHOULD work,

If that works, re enable your virus checker, if it still works, then it’s done and shouldn’t flare up again, if it now stops working, and your virus checker as re quarantined the dsace, then you have a naff virus checker

Uninstall it and get a different one that works

I had a clean instal, as I have stated in the OP. Did it, because I had the same problem before.

Had none, but checked it.

Antivirus shouldn't be a problem, as there isn't any present on the laptop.

Will do as a last resort.

Still no antivirus softwares installed.

"DSAce.dll exists. There is no need to click on this button."

it will show its there as its a file name, but if its blocked by your comp as being blacklisted even AFTER you uninstalled a virus checker, it still wont be alllowed to be run

thats why you need to get whatever virus checker you had before to reallow it

RE: Can't connect to server. Potato laptop edition. - James Greed - 01-03-2016

Since there never was a an antivirus on the laptop, it is very unlikely.

RE: Can't connect to server. Potato laptop edition. - evanz - 01-03-2016

oh sorry i missed that statement thinking that anyone online would not ever think they needed one?

perhaps then, well i dunno, it might be a reason why something isn't working

i dunno then

"please contact your administrator"

All I can think about is missing something software-vise. It's an old laptop, rarely seeing the internet. It has Windows XP SP2 on it quite possibly. A system recovery happened once, which could've rolled it back.

Check if there is this stupid Windows AV in your control panels. I thought I had none as well then I disocvered this little useless thing.

Checked, but it isn't there. So, back to ghost hunting.
