You didn't install them manyally, I hope.
Try downloading them again. They might got corrupted while being downloaded

Nope I didn't install them manually. I opened the .zip files and was told they are corrupt.
How does the launcher install the manually downloaded files because its keeps connecting to the internet and tries to update there.
I placed all the downloaded files in the root folder \AppData\Local\Discovery Freelancer 4.88.1.
Is that the correct place to put them??

not corrupt here. consider using a download manager like getright or something in order to ensure you download the patch properly.
Many games switched to torrent methods to avoid these kind of issues with bad networks, this will be available in the new launcher, one day if it's ever completed.
