RE: Dumping Skype - Jeremy Hunter - 03-18-2016

I currently use both Discord and Steam, as Discord is a vast improvement for myself. I've really had little to no lag on Discord, and people have seen me rage at skype freezing randomly on my PC.

I'm already on Discord so I'll add my name to the list I guess.

If the majority of the community makes the switch the rest will follow, so lets remove that argument for a second because its nothing more than a self-fulfilling prophecy. (I won't since everyone else won't)

I'm up for a change, if it's worth it. However, there will probably be a lot of people that will disagree for their own reasons.

Seeing Skype take up up to 500 mb of my RAM (for no apparent reason) and taking 4+ minutes to launch, I am tempted to actually also give le finger to MS. I am sceptical... however: is it really Discord that is the right horse to place the bets on?

Beyond some slight voice problems that stem from my headset not connected when discord starts, it is very good for what I need. My friends have problems but I believe it's on their end, as most of the time I don't have any problems with Discord at all.

I would, personally. It also has a Dark Theme, which is easier on my eyes then Skype and it's terrible, terrible white light blue color scheme.

Problem is that pretty much everybody has skype by default. If we switch to another program we'll have the Teamspeak syndrome: "Oh sorry I don't have it and can't join right now". Not saying that Skype is not shit (it really is), but not sure if making people download a program they probably never even heard of in the first place, just to talk to people propperly is the right way...

Xfire anyone ?

Point is: I do not want to abandon a (shitty) program that everybody uses for another (slightly less shitty) program that no one uses.

What we need is leaders to agree to this. If majority goes over to Discord, people would follow. After all, you can use it via browser perfectly.

Don't you think that it would be great if some players went to Discord, and some stayed on Skype? I think that it would make communication a lot easier.
What I really think that would result in actually is discord. But not with a capital "D".

@"Snak3" Yes. But when was the last time they agreed on something?
