RE: Pennsylvania Helium Drop Rate - Light - 03-21-2016 Well, yes, we could just leave it as it is, but the amount of money made off of a simple gas extracted from a cloud in a game that is supposed to have a type of realistic economy would benefit from a change like this to show the new players how it works. Otherwise all the work put into this trade configuration that the devs did was pointless, because nobody is looking for new trade routes, they just trade Helium all day. RE: Pennsylvania Helium Drop Rate - Marillion - 03-21-2016 Greetings Comm ! I would like to see it if they make Helium mineable only by "Pure Miners" like the Ore`s and Prem Scrap. Explain: Only Minable with Miner ID/Mining Faction ID, Miner Ships Like Arrastra, Salavager Hegemon and so on. The thing that every ship can mine it with normal Guns make no Sense in my eyes because in the "MainServerActivity"-Time half server goes to Penn and Mine instead of doing Rp or Other things that are more usefull on Disco. And if they make it Miner-Only Mineable would increase the Rp-Thing much i think because the Miner need Escort Ships and so on to Prevent pirate Attacks. Maybe they can increase the Credit-Cashouts then too maybe about 10% / each (Not in Penn :-)). Hope u understand me and know what i mean :-) . And i think many are agreed to this way too. Greetings and *highfive* RE: Pennsylvania Helium Drop Rate - Monika Von Kirsch - 03-21-2016 Thats not a bad idea increase the cash outflow increases the risk of piracey? RE: Pennsylvania Helium Drop Rate - gafwmn - 03-21-2016 Personally I find it relaxing mining...though unlike others , I take the longest route in-system to sell .Now , you might think the reason is that it is the highest sell point in-system.....and you would be half right. I believe what you are referring to is the endless loop....E3-4 to Erie. For those who only look at the credits per second.....it makes sense. But...that can be considered power-mining by some , just like power-trading with a 5k. I prefer my longer trade route....it gives more time for interaction with other players , plus real-life needs my attention more than a game....so its win-win for me. And that's my nickel's worth....and yes....some of us vets remember the Tau-31 prisoner run...don't you... RE: Pennsylvania Helium Drop Rate - Acolyte - 03-21-2016 I'm in favor of leaving it as-is. Making millions to buy a halfway decent fighter can be daunting to begin with. There's little sense in scaring away newcomers who make 200k/run in a Sunburst. Even at that rate, they'll be playing for several hours before even getting a good fighter. I think this is a prime time for experienced players to come in, talk to them, and maybe show them the ropes. For the new and returning players who show up on the server for the first time, this is a decent way of getting their feet wet in the Discovery Universe as well as starting to see R/P interactions in a relatively safe system (well sometimes it is...) . In a fairly short period of time, a player can have the credits necessary to outfit just about any of the smaller ships, complete with a good scanner and armor buff. Now with that said, I'd much rather take a hold of Helium out of Pennsylvania out to Bretonia, Rhineland or Kusari space. But I guess I'm an exception, I don't look at the credits/second. There's too much mod for me to stay put in one system all the time, and now that I have a ship that has a decent enough sized hold, I usually only come back to Pennsylvania for R/P purposes. Note: There are times after a lousy day at work that I don't want to travel and just want to hang out with some of the friends that I've made since I've been back. But that's an exception (for me) not something that I do as a rule. It's my opinion that the Helium Drop rate should be left as is with the understanding that as a starter system, newer players need a place to get some credits fairly easily. It's unfortunate that some players insist on Power-mining (as Gafwmn said...), but every on-line game there are some that find a way to abuse starting areas. RE: Pennsylvania Helium Drop Rate - Light - 03-23-2016 This is true, however if you imagine vanilla freelancer and its mechanics, not many could just hang around Manhattan making millions a day. It was designed to encourage players to go outward to travel and find more rewarding opportunities. Right now, they are having all the money they desire just staying in Pennsylvania, and we just go to them. I remember hearing about something where they stimulated the parts of a rat's brain for pleasure, and rats just kept feeling the pleasure and never did anything until death. Not to relate people to rats, thats not what I'm going for, but you gotta make them work for the cheese. It really should be considered then, to make this game a little more fun and interesting for newcomers, as honestly the large sentiment towards RP and players being the main event is honestly just veterans at this point, and Disco should be revamped once more to include more interesting things for newcomers to do, more exciting adventures they can go find on their own. Right now I am playing with a friend that I helped download the game for, and we are currently travelling around from scratch earning money from missions etc. It is that fun of the game, earning money from exploring, and tractoring in valuable cargo that most would ignore, simply because it isnt worth millions. However when we do this we notice random npcs are not as dangerous as we would have hoped, and honestly the only true resistance we get is when we do missions or we run into some type of military npc. It would be awesome to run into a strong ass pirate that could take us both on, like it was in vanilla where if you went into the Omicrons in Defenders, you were bound for an exciting, exhilarating fight worth remembering. RE: Pennsylvania Helium Drop Rate - JohnyWalker - 03-23-2016 I see... almost nobody here is thinking about newbies.... Miner ID can ONLY mine Helium... if no miners around, just try to mine it yourself... would be ethernal. Erie just buy for 810$ unit... so isnt a really high profit i guess. Other miners can mine other things for 7000$ unit just in 3 systems away.... Newbies need to earn profit (almost everything is expensive) and think the amount of newbies in Pennsylvania... the field have a high rate, but also, due the amount of newbie miners it drop the rate soooo fast. Recently, im focusing to create convoys with them to okinawa, for to show them the route and profits moving away... the fact about Pennsylvania is plenty of players... its because a lot of pirates coming for pirate newbie miners, not just for the Helium. These days ago i can count more officers than traders and miners... also Rogue Scyllas pirating newbies... Leave the field at it is... if you will change something, MINER ID must have other comodities for mine with bonuses and features, not only this Helium. Take in count, in other fields (other comodities) we have no ores (or almost no ores) and we CANNOT FILL UP OTHERS. Again... please think in the newbies, not only about RPing and so on, they need time for learn. If you turn this task harder, for sure they will not continue in the server. Already not everyone joining remain here. It would be worst just touching something. We need more players loving the game!!! RE: Pennsylvania Helium Drop Rate - Laz - 03-23-2016 Remember the issue. People dont explore and expand. They as it has been seen often dont role play and show up in a Lib Dreads and what not and shoot what they want. An issue that needs addressing. Yes, it is more about exploration and expansion, since there is a lot to explore and honestly thats how the game should start out, with them exploring looking for jobs and opportunities. The game was designed that way. We have to attempt to restore this somehow, maybe adding into the story that the Helium was over-mined, and now its supply is higher than its demand. Give them plenty of hints on where else they should go, and they definitely will. And it will be a great change that this server needs. |
