RE: A Change in Zoner Diplomacy? - Swallow - 03-21-2016 Zoner ID should be treated as generic as FL ID and people shall understand that they are speaking rather of a social class than a faction. I see no point in changing the diplomacy of Zoners, because this way one can badly harm someone's RP. Neutrality is a silly notion, especially in a world like Freelancer, which has the mindset of medieval Europe and with the value of a human life being beneath that of a ship hauling goods. And by being at war with A.I it will not affect their diplomacy with other humans i.e Corsairs,Outcasts, Core and Order. Why Coalition? Because like A.I i really do not think they have the numbers to overwhelm Freeports, and they are a perfect anti-thesis to the Zoners. Although Coalition having some diplomacy with the RH, could be a problem diplomacy wise Coalition : Strict Communist Control Zoners: Free spirits of Sirrius Coalition: A dictatorial form of governance Zoners: No solid concept of Nation-State etc... RE: A Change in Zoner Diplomacy? - Laura C. - 03-21-2016 AI might work, Coalition doesn´t make sense. Zoners are one of the few willing to trade with them, so making them hostile would be shooting into own leg. RE: A Change in Zoner Diplomacy? - Tabris - 03-21-2016 A Zoner-Coalition war is not likely to happen in present times. The Coalition has a vested interest in maintaining a neutral if not somewhat friendly relationship with the Zoners due to the fact they can easily acquire House materials through them and the fact they provide a 'service' in this matter. The Coalition also has it's own problems with the Corsair Empire trying to bash down it's back door so a new conflict is not in their best interests at this time. RE: A Change in Zoner Diplomacy? - Swallow - 03-21-2016 Once again, imagine that you are saying something like this: How about freelancers to be at war with... In my opinion only Nomads must remain the hostile faction. AI is, from one hand, a generic ID, and a faction ID of such as PRIME. And PRIME are definitely not happening to be in war with at least one zoner group such as Canaan. Besides AIs I tend to meet are rather neutral. (Implying that I am a Zoner ID user). RE: A Change in Zoner Diplomacy? - Lythrilux - 03-21-2016 Zoners don't shoot people. They're the ones who get shot. By that what I mean is the hostilities are never mutual. And given that it's a generic faction it wouldn't make sense for them all to choose a signle faction to shoot that didn't shoot them first. I have to agree here. My zoner from Delta doesn't know much about Gallia or events happening in Liberty and such places. She has nothing to do with Zoners from Freeport-10 or Baffin, because simply she doesn't know what's happening there. Also Zoners on Freeports have different hobbies, like on Ames live Scientists, in Baffin religious Zoners and in Delta Zoners adoring wildlife. That's how I see Zoners. They are different but flying with same banner on their ships, because they share just similar life style. RE: A Change in Zoner Diplomacy? - HassLHoFF™ - 03-21-2016 Hostility against Zoner means "regional" hostility to a civilian group. It is only possible to be hostile to all Zoners, if the faction is hostile to all civilians. Regularly any Zoner is on its own, except he is affiliated with a Zoner base or some defined group, that means hostility to Zoners can just be defined inRP and not generical defined by NPCs. In regards of the AI for example, they can attack Freeport 11, but they still can like Canaan. RE: A Change in Zoner Diplomacy? - moebus - 03-21-2016 Zoners don't need enemies. In vanilla they are often tolerated by other groups because they are useful to them: they provide services that help to overcome group weaknesses. I would like we keep it that way in disco. Since zoners are not interested in military conflicts it means the conflict has to be started from the other side. As I see it, zoners would be among the last enemies of AI or the Coalition. Moreover, as already mentioned in the previous posts, zoners are not united and it would not make sense that the global zoner diplomacy includes other hostile entities than nomads |
