Then you have +1 vote for you concept.

We don't need them. All of the vanilla Battleships are Carriers which just makes things really weird when you add more on top. In addition, they're poorly / strangely balanced and usually inferior to regular Battleships/Dreads.

As we have them, though, making them actually useful through FLHook magic is fine. Just gotta find someone to do it.

I have an idea.

Allow players to reengage in combat if they're launching from a carrier. All players in 14k range get a green message (similar to docking messages) that a certain player undocked from the carrier, so they can reengage.

Ofc this would only work if upon death, the pilots respawn on the carrier.

So cloaking Carrier might be a thing, right?

Depends. Is it possible to undock from a cloaked carrier? It should not be imo.

But just imagine how stupid such rule exception would sound. Do we really need to make rules even more harder and plentiful to allow PvPers to reign free as long as Carrier is there?

They protect ships inside, provide covert operation of smaller ships inside, deploy ship sand act as a base of operations, and other rp stuff.

They are quite awesome for rp.

Jumping Carriers, if you ask me. That would be a nice thing, weren't Carriers always a Jumping Platform in general? Well I know in the past it has been abused by Traders (screw you all) thus jumping got nerfed like hell. But I thought something that charges realy slow...

Well other than that actually I'm just looking forward to that thing Alley said. I thought Alley was supposed to do it? Or was it just her idea long ago and nobody was able to FLHook it? If we could finaly get the Docking Modules for that purpose, then actually Carriers would become very useful. It also depends on which category in "Role" you put your Carrier in. It could have features which would give it a purpose, a role it would function inside a fleet, maybe a Repair purpose as example?

Support Carriers having the ability to repair ships like Repair Ships? <- If not that, then I'd say give carriers ability to sell Nanobots and Shield Batts in their cargo bay, while other Caps can't then I'm sure you'll see a Carrier in almost any fleet deployed. Might make it too OP though or unballanced, dunno about you guys.

Of course maybe this all by the expense of loosing Heavies, or having like only ONE heavy for maybe a Mortar/Missile so it could support Dreads/Battleships.

I've proposed something similar quite a long while ago. The result was nope Smile Actually the thing connected with respawning on carrier was pretty simple while using FLAC made by the Eagle. You was respawning at the said carrier and buying regens+ammo from it as long as one of you didn't leave the server. If either you or your carrier left- you were sent to the last docked base - not the carrier.

All the server's devs added was a simple line in BSs ini file, so it was pretty simple. Not sure if it could work well here.

It would be cool if the heavy docking bays would allow freighters to land. Not jump. Just be inside.
